Big Hollywood : Maroon 5 Too Cool for Beach Boys and Other Things We Learned from the Grammys

Best act of the night: The Civil Wars. If you have not really listened to them yet, you should. Your comment about singers just singing is spot on. Hey, I like a good stage act as well as the next person, but usually, big production just masks deficiencies of talent. (sorry Rheanna and Katie Perry, and yes, even Taylor Swift, you should take a lesson from the Civil Wars and Adele)

It strikes me liberalism is less about equal rights than equal outcomes. If you criticize Republican presidents for increasing the size of government, you must either love them for doing so, but unable to admit it, or be extremely disappointed in Democrat presidents who really love government take over. Individual freedom is a classically liberal notion which is closer to modern day conservatism. Modern liberalism is more like the collective be it nationalism or "the borg."

Big Hollywood : 'The Iron Lady' Review: Slandering Lady Thatcher's Legacy as Only Hollywood Can

Streep has joined the list of actors that are so transparently political that I will make it an absolute point to not see their films. She is over the hill and overrated. I remember a Golden Globe earlier in this millenium where she was so drunk I thought she was going to hurl on the table. She was being interviewed and she made some drunken comment about George W. Bush

Big Journalism : Insider: How PolitiFact Creates Their Own Facts to Attack Republicans

my local newspaper/fishwrap in Knoxville just started adding their own politifact and touting it like it's some big deal. First, it would be totally unnecessary if reporters did their job. This is a dumbing down McFactoid and it is only as useful as what is covered. So if you have a paper with a liberal editor and all liberal reporters, and people on their Politicheck" staff, one would need to be a complete idiot to think this won't be used selectively to help the president and democrat congressional candidates in an election year.

Big Government : Romney Pulls Off 8-Vote Win, Turns to New Hampshire

I don't consider the media is picking my candidate. If Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio, or Bobby Jindal had run, I would have supported them wholeheartedly. Of the group that was left, Newt is too liberal and crazy to boot. Ron Paul is tanamount to voting for Obama. Perry blew himself up by being ill prepared, and so on. Bachmann was way over her head. She is good right where she is. Actually, Ann Coulter hit the nail on the head this week in her column. Two issues which will forever kill conservbatism are Obamacare and illegal immigration. As she says, if we don't fix the latter, the country will look like California in the near future. We can hope SCOTUS overturns it, but we cannot rely on that.

I am working very hard to get used to supporting Romney. All I need do is remind myself that, with a Republican controlled congress, he will be immensely preferable to a Republican congress banging heads with a second term Obama administration. He could actually be perfect for quietly dismantling the regulations (and regulators) Obama has put in place. Aside from being too moderate for most conservatives, he doesn't have a lot of other baggage that has not already been addressed.

Big Hollywood : 'Iron Lady' Provoking 'Massive Rethink' on Thatcher's Political, Social Legacy

I have long ago lost whatever respect I may have once had for Streep. I think seeing her drunk at the Golden Globes slurring her words as she ragged on President Bush was what finally nailed it for me. This film hopes to have people re-think Thatcher (and in a negative way.) Not until I see a liberal political figure portrayed in an unflattering light will I have any trust that these movies are intended to do anything other portray history to their liking. The hope, I suppose, is to make the OWS types think this is actually objective history. I'm not going to hold my breath for any of this to change anytime soon.

Big Hollywood : Top 10 Breakout Stars of 2011

Admittedly, a political film probably somewhat depends on one's individual interpretation, but that is kind of part of my point. These may all be terrific young actors, and some really good movies, but it is all "fly under the radar stuff." I am more likely to see some of them when they show up on some indie movie network in a couple years. I almost never go to a theatre, (even if they had seen general release,) and I have greatly been turned off by the stuff that does get heavily promoted; either because it has either leftist political aspirations or just simply sucks.
