Excerpt: -White House Budget Director Peter Orszag today said the administration is using a different yardstick than the CBO in gauging the fiscal impact of the House bill. As a result, the administration judges the House bill to be “deficit neutral,” Orszag said.-
Of course! That's like a car salesman telling you that a car is worth $20k and not to pay attention to the Kelly Blue Book that lists it at $17k. I believe that the president is and will continue to try to sway people away from listening to the CBO.

I have to say atticus89dude, while I probably would disagree with a lot of your views, you sure do a good job of presenting the other side of the argument and stimulating discussion and for that I give you a +1.

Try this:

Dear So-and-so
I want you to vote no on the Cap and Trade bill because, even though you and I may disagree on if global warming is real and if it is caused by man, one thing we can agree on is that it makes no sense to pass a bill that could cost American jobs and increase our cost of living when we are headed into 10+% unemployment and a deeper recession. The world isn't going to catch on fire next week if you don't pass this bill through by Friday is it?
If you do vote yes, I will not only vote against you next election, but I will actively campaign against you.

Sincerely, What's-my-face.

This is just the beginning. Remember during the campaign when Joe Biden said something like "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama... we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy... And he's gonna need help... Because it's not gonna be apparent initially, it's not gonna be apparent that we're right." Now look at what N. Korea is doing and what's going on in Iran. The problem is, they are guessing that they are right when there are many examples in history that suggests they are wrong. Oh, and 10+% unemployment is just around the corner. This is just the beginning.

FYI It was in a letter dated Jan. 1 1802 that Thomas Jefferson wrote that the Constitution had created "a wall of separation between church and state." in a response to his position that the federal government had no authority to proclaim religious holidays. However, it is very clear in the rest of his and other founding fathers statements, that they wanted religion to play a large role in both our government and our lives. Our founders were for religion but against our government preferring a particular church or sect. For more examples, please see pages 75-93 of the book "The 5000 Year Leap".

I agree with your first comment; to have a primary for each incumbent; however, I don't quite understand the point of letting a corp./donor give money to only one party. I think part of the problem with congress is people giving their support blindly to someone because they're in "their" party. As much as we are unhappy with congress, ultimately it's OUR fault, as their bosses, that they are not doing their job right. We need to start looking at our own states representatives and see how they measure up to the 9 principles. If they don't meet those standards, FIRE THEM!
