My post does not mention religion. My post is about a California State law, not the Mid-West. My post does not, actually, express my opinion about same-sex marriage. My post is about a mayor who is trying to keep a law-abiding citizen from continuing in his 30+ year seat on a non-profit theatre board because he made a legal contribution to a political campaign (a campaign that won the majority of votes in this state and 38% of the vote in his county). If you equate my post and same sex marriage with sharia law and the barbaric practices contained there-in, then I think it says much more about you than it does about the "rednecks" you decry.

Good excerpt from a great article by Harry Stein, a writer deserving of great admiration. Although, I don't know if he would really quarrel with my take. I said Mamet wants to expose this world. I did not say the play is meant to destroy it or to force any pat conclusions about it. Although, I do believe that as we continue to talk about, expose and discuss the insidious and stifling nature of political correctness it will die the death it deserves. The point of my piece is to praise this play for bringing so much out on the table in such a frank way. How the rape mystery resolves and what conclusions the audience may or may not draw from that resolution does nothing to lessen the importance of this play and Mamet's courage in presenting it. Also, I have many friends that believe the ending was not quite as conclusive as Mr. Stein believes it is. To me the play ends with enough "reasonable doubt" to allow everyone in the audience to reach their own conclusion.

This is an opportunity to help suffering people. This is an opportunity to SHOW the compassion and caring that conservatives feel. This is an opportunity to actually DO something to help and not just preach about it. This is also an opportunity to make an emotional investment in a story, in a people, who have desperately suffered under quasi=Marxist totalitarian rule while the left in our country have encouraged it. Let us help these people, and then, let us engage in a real and open discussion about our failed policies of the past, and our new investment in Haiti's future. How America can be a light to these people and we can USE our influence to encourage a free, open and democratic society.

No one said we were trying to "Help Haiti". The headline says "Help the PEOPLE of Haiti". We are going to help suffering people. People in our backyard. People who desperately need our help. dcase: You know me and my fellow contributors here at the Big Blogs well enough to know that after this physical and emotional investment we will not sit idly by and let this administration return to the Marxist-apologist policies of the past. There will be time enough for politics in the ensuing weeks. Let us SHOW what we Americans can really do. Let us SHOW the compassion and caring that we conservatives have. Let us help these people now and let us then correct the policies that helped create this situation.

Michael, thank you for this.... you truly relay the heart of this film to the reader. And I love the way Big Hollywood has a comprehensive group of supporting pieces fleshing out and praising the creative forces behind this project (not to mention a chance to purchase). I've been reading a lot on other blogs lately about some sour-grapes conservative film makers wondering when BH is going to promote their films (as if BH's reason for being is to re-run press-releases by every conservative film maker). And when I read a story about a film like this. About a courageous artist who does not sit back and wait for things to happen, but risks all they have in making their own opportunities. Who, out of a labor of love creates and promotes their product, not for their own financial gain, but for the greater benefit of America and the brave young people who volunteer to defend her. I read about this and it makes me so glad that BH is very selective as to which films they feature and support. It allows for the cream to rise to the top... Looking forward to so much more from you, Mr. Broderick.

Recently I went out to dinner in Santa Monica with a handful of contributors to Big Hollywood. There was a moment during this dinner when I looked around the table and thought to myself "I can't believe I'm sitting at this table with THESE people!" I STILL feel that way every time I see my name (my REAL name now) posted at Big Hollywood. I will add one more adjective to AB's description of John Nolte: Patient. John Nolte has displayed an incredible level of patience with all of us. I can't begin to imagine what his e-mail inbox looks like as he herds all of the BH contributors. His advice to me has been invaluable and over the past year he has taught me how to write. It had to be difficult to go from being a one man show to being the ring leader of a 50-ring circus. Thank you, John for keeping us all focused on the big picture. And Alex... well... let's just say Alex knows EVERYTHING and he keeps his mouth shut about it. If I didn't fear him so much, I would tell you about his propensity for 90's Boy Bands... but I shall refrain for now. I will just say that my favorite thing in the world is to find a bad link or something in a post and email Alex to tell him about it. Then I start counting the seconds until he responds with a "fixed" e-mail... I usually don't get past 30! Great hires, AB. Great hires.

My oldest is ten. She grew up with Steve Burns. I let her go to YouTube sometimes. I can always hear what she is looking at because I am in the room when she is on the computer. If I hear something I don't like, I get over there and call a halt. She knows better, by know, than to hunt for things she shouldn't. She knows who Steve Burns is, and she could easily have searched for him on YouTube and found this. He may not be targeting kids, but, by using his familiar style in the piece, it blurs the line... and the guy has serious credibility with children. I'm disappointed that he did not have the presence of mind to say "You know, this is a little too close to home as far as the kids go."

Thanks KelsG... I have to say, I truly was so disappointed when I found this. I have great admiration for his natural talent... and remember, this is less about his politics (I expect a left-tilt at this point) it is the LIES and character assassination along with the children's program style that I think were really crossing the line.
