Mile Square View : Councilwoman Jen Giattino: "Hoboken is on the radar for 2014 Superbowl opportunities"

Not to disparage your friend but you don't understand the mechanics of the event. It's a very closed event with only 1% of the game tickets available to the public. With such a controlled moneymaker and this is one event that is stacked, there's no need to keep hotel space available either. There's going to be well into six figures of people coming from around the country. Most of the tickets are going to each of the NFL teams. Will check to see if I can name which organization has locked up the W but the idea no one can do so with this kind of demand is frankly shortsighted. I'll let folks decide whichever for now.

Not exactly. A corporate deal has been completed and would not show up based on an effort in the reservation system.

Been to football games and there's a difference among the NY Giants and Jet fans alone. Can't imagine what the Beagle fans would be like. I did see that Mark Wahlberg film where he makes the team after being a bartender. Does that make me an expert now? Okay, some wish to argue conclusions while I prefer to see the conversations on opportunities continue. As you were, carry on. Horsey out.

Already said it but it bears repeating: the Super Bowl is a once in a lifetime event for Hoboken as the game will not return to an open air stadium in winter. This is a $500 million opportunity and far different than the marauding invaders who are looking for the next house keg party. It has a great deal more value to put Hoboken on the map in a positive way. So "YAY Super Bowl scene," indeed.

The Super Bowl is not a one night or even one weekend event. It's a week or more of a buildup to the big dance. Hoboken could easily see 100,000 visitors over that time period. There's nothing comparable. Maybe the closest comparison would be the Olympics or the World Cup for soccer but those are not equivalents either.

Hoboken has easy transportation in and out and DIRECT to the Stadium. There's nothing comparable and Councilwoman Giattino said that Indy passed a one week ordinance to further facilitate their event. Hoboken can study all of this and do similarly and that's the positive direction Hoboken should be weighing.

Mile Square View : Diary of a failed BoE power grab as Cunningham and Marsh leave in protest

MSV has the details but is awaiting what action may be taken. The threat by a paid Beth Mason political operative was made to an injured municipal employee after the meeting failed to meet quorum and was cancelled. With the power grab at the City Council gone awry, the meeting at the BoE likely will require a police presence. Residents should consider attending on February 14th. Support for the rule of law is certainly going to be appreciated by some and absolutely despised by others in attendance. The more people that attend, the less likely the behavior will get out of hand. That's been the standard over months at the BoE.

Mile Square View : Hoboken BoE prepares for election battle - in November!

City Council or BoE can vote to move the election but there is no provision to have it reversed by referundum. Clearly the law was designed to prevent such an action and the State is doinbg what it can to help decrease costs to municipalities and see greater voter participation. Valentine's in Hoboken will be extra sweet this year.

Nope, because it's referencing a resident who is very Irish and stated a true historical fact on the Hoboken Parade committee. The spokesman has told two different things to two different reporters on the same day. So you tell me what's going on? LOL

Agree with you on the age of the group and made sure to include that and its origins. As for confirmation, not sure what additional things need to be confirmed. The full time paid press can follow up on the crimes, personally I don't feel compelled to do so on every issue as it's not possible. So I did make sure to include the details so the errors on both sides are captured. There's additional aspects showing other regional concerns and this is reflected fairly on all sides. I'd suggest you contact the editors of Patch and the Hudson Reporter on the question of the final tally of crimes that day. If they decline let me know, and I'll try to find time to do so. Thanks for your query.

Mile Square View : Beth Mason cameraman identified filming mayor at former City employee's court hearing

While one can imagine who is on the unidentified list of data theft recipients, I would be surprised if Bill landed up being one of them. He was a nice person and I would hope he steered clear of it and doesn't find himself on that list. Regarding Mason's involvement, it strikes one as another example of being completely politically tone deaf, but that in and of itself is not news. There seems to be little ability to manage boundaries within ethical or legal lines. There's evidence of Mason's involvement in multiple legal areas involving Hoboken legal cases. Maybe someone else will break it first.

Some time back I recall a post saying that, perhaps it was you EasyE. As MSV is fighting the Machine in Hoboken, we're not exactly beloved by Hudco either. Business as usual is good for all and MSV is more like a collective heart attack. So pulling the plug on us where possible really isn't a surprise, albeit interesting.

No Mason was at the Hudson County Planning Board. She's doing a pretty good job of making it look like she was against this Applied Development project. Nothing she is doing now is fooling anyone. She ignored inquiries on the matter last spring. Nothing can change that. Not even listing her first in a story on Mason411. The Hudson Tea building residents are not so easily fooled.

Mile Square View : Breaking: Mayor Zimmer and Councilman Mello sue Hudson County over Hoboken 4th ward voting rights

Hey Hudson County -follow the STATE LAW! Go Mayor Zimmer, fighting for the rights of Hoboken people to vote!! A big thank you to her and Dave Mello for leading this fight. Where is Hoboken's Freeholder Stick Romano on this? How about a quote from him? Hoboken voters deserve to vote with the standards set by State Law. Period. The 4-2 should see three districts, end of story and it should have locations to vote in the 4-2.

Kay Serasera, thanks much for your well thought out post and it's greatly appreciated. At the same time, it's well time for the local media to be more responsive to the requirements of mainstream journalism. A lawsuit by a former mayor being dismissed in court is notable even if he wasn't a convicted felon. The only constraint placed on the lack of coverage is an obtuse one. It's frankly unacceptable. Journalistic norms should be practiced and it's kept MSV going far longer than ever anticipated.
