I agree with Iain, Tomkins is not a midfielder. He did a lot right today but it was all centre half type stuff just a bit further forward.

Yep, Nolan is difficult to figure out. When he does something good it is good, and you can see why he's there. On too many occassions however the playing side of his game passes us by. A good captain should be able to lead, enforce the manager's wishes, and play a bit. This IS West Ham - so I suppose two out of three aint bad!!

Interesting team Gav and I can see it working. Will be interesting to see if young Pottsy has grown a pair if included against Millwall on Saturday.
On basis that Sam will not drop Nolan, where do you see him fitting in this side? We want pace going forward which he doesn't have, and we want holding midfielders with ability to create. Do you compromise Nobes or Diop for Nolan? As with most teams posted on this site there is a real balance in yours and whatever way you look at it ,Nolan, for everything that he does bring, upsets the balance.

I'm with you on this team Devo from an attacking basis but it does not provide any cover for the defence. Vaz Te and Taylor would really need to work the wings and I guess Noble would need to sit as the deepest midfielder.
Also, on the basis that Sam won't drop Nolan the whole dimension will change when he tries to fit him in. I like the 4-4-2 but I think this may be comprimised to fit Nolan in. Think he may play Nolan a the expense of one of the forwards and possibly Morrison (if faith is showed in him) behind a striker. Its safety first with Sam.
Still can't understand why so much emphasis was put on buying forwards inthe transfer window when he insists on only playing one up front.

We will get promoted with or without Tevez, Jelavic, Rhodes et al. The margin of victory may be greater with another goalscorer but I do not think any of us should be too worried if nothing happens over next couple of days.
