Big Government : Palin: Romney Needs to Work Harder to Win Conservatives

Logical thought? You can't even grasp reality. He's been elected as a Republican, therefore he IS a Republican. You do know there are different types of Republicans, right? Probably not, come to think of it. After all, you think Mitt is conservative. I say you're insane because I suspect you slobber all over the keyboard when someone schools you and you get far too angry.

He's not? Wonder why he has an "R" after his name on ballots? On another note, you don't get to define what a conservative is, thank goodness. Reading through your posts, I realize there's something mentally wrong with you. I know you don't think so, but insane people always think THEY are the sane ones. I urge you to seek professional help.

Big Government : The Negative Tone of the Campaign Is Blocking the GOP Message

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to be called out as a conspiracy theorist. He/She/It (I think a combo of the last two)has been attacking people left and right, flinging insults like a monkey flings poo. I started to reply, but remembered a quote that was on my start page this morning: I never make the mistake of arguing with people for whose opinions I have no respect. - Edward Gibbon

Big Government : Romney Wins Maine Caucuses

Yes, I do. I don't know for sure, but I expect one of the reasons was his district was re-drawn. I can't remember all the particulars, but his district picked up some Dem. strongholds and it's predicted it will elect a Democrat for his seat. Texas gained four congressional seats and with the re-drawn districts, it's expected that the Dems will win them all. For what it's worth, I also don't think he'll go 3rd party. Again, I don't know, but I imagine he knows it would make for a rocky road ahead for Rand.

Big Government : Gingrich Eschews Rhetoric for Substance in CPAC Address

Not me, Sub. I'm a Paul supporter. I was just cracking wise about the ludicrous "white power" comment. I don't want to vote f/ Newt or Mitt, but will if I have to. I do know one thing, I won't vote for Santorum. Funny how people level the racist charge at Paul, but excuse ol' Frothy's homophobia. It's also funny how people jump on Paul for earmarks when Newt was the biggest pork whore to ever serve in Congress. I'd take up for the good doctor more, but I learned from Don Q. about tilting at windmills. I do appreciate your posts, though.

Whatever you say. The local h.s. band has played in the Macy's parade several times, as well as during the halftime of an AFL playoff game before the merger. College, h.s. , who cares? As long as there's not a repeat of this last halftime performance. Other than that, trust me, I don't really give a crap.

Sounds good to me. Or, they could have the best high school band in the country - or several of them -perform. That's what I always liked about college halftimes, the marching band. Saw this article earlier, interesting read/slideshow: 8 controversial Super Bowl halftime shows

I agree with you about the acting. He was definitely the least talented of the trio and of all the others who played the Hogwarts students. I kept hoping he'd get much better what with all the adult stellar cast around him, but he really didn't improve his acting skills all that much over the course of all the movies. I know he was just a little kid during the first movie, but I cringe when I watch him in scenes when it comes on the tube. I don't know what is in store for Watson, but I predict Grint will be a major British star in the future.

Big Government : For the GOP, Moderate Is the New Conservative

I think it's a glitch. If not, I think it's something that kicks in when one posts several times within a certain amt. of time. Same thing happened to me the other day; started when I posted and it showed up, but I saw I had made a spelling error. I edited, then tried to submit the comment again and got that msg. I couldn't post for several hours. I hadn't been insulting, only posted several times within ten minutes or so. Whether or not I'm right about what causes it, I don't think it's the admins that are doing it.

Big Government : Energy Independence: Frack We Must

State investigators found methane in the Colorado man's well, but determined it was from natural sources. That's fairly common in water wells in that part of the country. The biogenic gas can be produced by the chemical reduction of carbon dioxide or the breakdown of organic materials. Well water can taste and smell like rotten eggs due to sulfur or small amounts of hydrogen sulfide. The water isn't polluted /made flammable by drilling, but by rainwater, snow melt or springs percolating DOWN through limestone or organic material. I've got a friend who runs some cattle on some land w/ playa lakes. Playa lakes are the main recharge for the Ogallala Aquifer; when it rains, they fill up and the water eventually trickles down to the water table. After it dries up some, the grass grows profusely and the cattle love to graze there. They also do what comes naturally after they eat and THAT seeps down along w/ the rain water. That's one source of a flammable organic material. (and cow patties will burn - the Indians in this area used buffalo patties for fuel for their fires because there's not many trees) Feedlot runoff, fertilizer runoff from farms....all sorts of sources can seep into water wells. There's one common element amongst every person who has complained of hydraulic fracturing or drilling activity polluting their water: none of the people bought - or could buy - the mineral rights when they purchased their land. People who rely on the pseudo-documentary "Gasland" for their "facts" about hydraulic fracturing are the same ones who get their history about the Vietnam War from "Apocalypse Now", their proof about the Kennedy assassination from "JFK" and learned all they need to know about global warming from "An Inconvenient Truth".

Not just a layer, but layers. The oil or gas wouldn't have formed or even be there if it weren't for those impermeable layers. Sure, some of the chemicals are toxic, but as you say, it's a very small percent. Most of fracturing fluid is water and sand and much is pumped back out or comes back to the surface because of the pressure of the gas. Many companies try to reuse it within the same field or if not, they dispose of it according to state law or treat it. Many objections I see to fracturing is that diesel is used. Wow, imagine that....a hydrocarbon fluid injected into a formation that contains hydrocarbons. I also disagree with the "pipe bomb" or "small earthquake" analogy applied to hydraulic fracturing. I've been around a lot of wells as they were being completed and never felt a thing, even with my hand on the casing. When I see people saying that, I always ask them if we should go back to the old way of fracturing - using nitroglycerine. Yeah, that's a lot safer. -snicker- I think hockeynation and the other anti-fracking people need to pull their heads out of their annulus.
