What good comes out of Toomey opposing Sotomayor? None. Sotomayor's nomination cannot be stopped and even if by some slim chance in hell she were, Obama would have another one in the ranks just as extreme as her waiting. You have to pick and choose your battles and this is a losing one.

Having said that, I don't think these numbers are bad for Toomey at all. In fact, they're better than what I would have expected so I'm not sure why some of you are worried about this. He has a year and half to make his case to the people of PA and I don't doubt that he will. Obama and the Democrats are already crumbling after only five months. Americans don't support most of what tops their agenda. There is vast opposition among the public to Card Check, vast opposition to Cap and Fraud, more oppose government health care than support, and everyone is gravely concerned about the debt. If this trend continues you're going to see the numbers in these polls shift by November next year.
