Big Hollywood : HomeVideodrome: A 'Very' Amusing Stoner Sequel

Watch the first one and then decide if it meets your expectations. I would say the first film is one of the better "buddy" movies out there today. It is sweet without being cloying, funny without pushing too far, and thoughtful without beating you over the head with a message. That can't be said about the sequel. The second film, for me, was a minor disaster, but I plugged through it. While many saw the plot as a tirade against the Bush administration, I saw it as a jab against government incompetence as a whole. And Bush even comes out looking good at the end of the movie. The gags were similar, but it didn't have the quirkiness I expected and loved from the original. I haven't seen the third installment. I think I will save it until Christmas rolls around next year.

Big Hollywood : 'Roadie' Review: Rock Drama Rolls with Nostalgia

I missed the mud shark, no brown M&M, groupies, and excess of the 70's bands by a few years... (my first real concert was in 1980), but it sounds like this is something different coming to the screen instead of the mindless pulp Hollywood regurgitates on a weekly basis that I might enjoy. (Go Go Godzilla!)

Breitbart.com : Stephen King's heating oil help exceeds goals

I can't stand the man's policitcs, and those views have glared brightly in his books over the last 20 years, but more power to Mr. King for all his charity work. He is well known in Maine as very generous with his money. He is responsible for funding new ball fields and libraries, as well as selling the rights to his stories to be made by not-for-profit film makers/students for one dollar, and The Haven Foundation, just to name a few. For this story alone, I'll back off from any snide comment about how much it cost to heat his winter home in Florida.

Swan Song is a brilliant book. And McCammon is one hell of a writer. It's been fun watching him progress over the years in King's shadow. While not as prolific as King, he definitely holds his own in the horror/suspense genre.

The Wind Through the Keyhole is the next DT story out. He ends up going back in time to prevent a passage in Leviticus from being written: 'Thou shalt not lie with mankind as with womankind. It is an abomination.' "But we decided it's better to keep it vague, which makes more sense because he's a 1-year-old. Ultimately, Stewie will be gay or a very unhappy repressed heterosexual.

So he says at 3:30 that the Stewart joke was over the line, but has never said anything similar when he equated Palin and McLame having Nazis as supporters? /Stopped watching Family Guy years ago when Stewie went from wannabe world dictator to wannabe dic-...sucker, and Brian went from being the voice of reason to a liberal pansy.

Big Hollywood : 9/11 and Television: No One Could Rescue 'Rescue Me'

I watched from the start and found Leary to be the "everyman" so often associated with morality stories; a modern day Job, if you will. He had plenty of ups, and so many downs you never thought it would be possible to pull out of a spiral that would crush many. But like those tales, the hero wins against the odds in the end. Tommy won. He overcame his demons (whoring, drinking, pissed-off anti-establishment) and became a true hero (husband and father, sober, and more pride in his job and friends). While the final season seemed jerky and spliced together, the majority of the 7-season run provided me with many laughs, and even some tears. That's a rare thing for any TV show in my book, and I will miss Ladder 62.

Big Hollywood : GLAAD's Fascist Crusade Targets Chelsea Handler

So "these people" will go after Chelsea for off-color remarks about a man-thing, but they and other Don't Hate Because It Brings Everyone Down groups sit on their hands when she pokes a stick in Sarah Palin's or Michele Bachmann's direction, calling them and their families idiots, and worse? Note to GLAAD: Suck it! (literally and figuratively). Chelsea is a D-list celeb with a house frau following, on at a time when most people are in bed. And if they are watching TV, there's a pretty good chance they aren't watching Handler handle up on Bono's business.

Breitbart.com : 'NOW That's What I Call Music! Vol. 39' to be Released August 9

It's like K-Tel all over again, but with even worse music than the disco rehash they and Rhino shoved down the throats of stupid teens in the 70s. Pet peeves of music: 1. Any compilation record. (Yes, I said record). Highest on the hate list: Now That's What I Call Music! Vol. Whatever. 2. Any song "featuring" anyone other than the artist singing the song. Quit tossing bones to your peeps. 3. Sampling ANYTHING you did not personally write. 4. Bands that allow their music to be sampled. 5. Bands that allow their music to be used on Glee. 6. Computer voicebox singing. If you can't sing yourself, don't call yourself a musician, singer, or artist by passing your voice through a machine and think you are fooling anyone in believing otherwise. I'm looking at you, Britney Spears... 7. And finally, any kind of remix. If the original artist did not intend the song to be 30 minutes long with an additional overdub of William Shatner reading Othello, DON'T FREAKING MAKE IT!

I don't care how wonderful the acting, screenwriting, CGI, or subtle updates a movie has, rehashes and re-makes make me want to go postal on the first "new breed" of Hollywood director I come across.
Big Hollywood : What Shoulda Won? Best Picture Academy Award - 1994

Vincent Vega didn't have the same ring as a nic like Royale with cheese. :) And you're correct about the recommendation. Pulp Fiction is my guilty pleasure. There isn't a snowballs chance I would ever tell my parents, people at church, or any place I wish to be thought of as a normal person, that this movie is the one movie you should have if you were to be left alone on an island for the rest of your life.

Glad to see you picked Pulp Fiction, as it is my fave. Arguably, all of the above could easily be deemed best of the best, but PF is it for me hands down. Gump has the most pleasing story with a very heroic and well-told tale. Shawshank is by far the best in terms of acting. Quiz Show was the "thinker" movie. But Tarantino had everything pegged with Pulp Fiction. Great acting, multiple story integration, best lines, believable characters involved in the strangest set of predicaments. The list goes on for days. I can still remember where I first saw the movie and how I felt after it was over. That rarely happens to me. But because it did, Pulp Fiction earned its place in my top 5 of all time.
