That's about the team I would pick - but I don't think it will happen.

I agree, Devo, but that's what I think he will do.

I just can't see Sam putting out a team without a holding midfielder so with Diop not being fit he will probably have Tomkins in there again. Iain's suggestion of Lansbury as a holding player is interesting as I'm not sure he has ever played there before and really doesn't look like he would suit that position. I know that Tomkins hadn't done it before last week but he is a defender and he's big - right up Sam's street!
Faubert will definitely play as he seems to be a Sam favourite and his performance against Millwall indicates he should be in the starting XI.
As I said in a previous post I don't see much change from the Millwall game - probably just Taylor on the left with Collison or Lansbury moving into central midfield. Not what I'd do but, with Sam, not too difficult to predict.

Well, he won't be playing Diop as he is injured and ~Sam has also said that Morrison is some way off being ready.
I think it will be the same team as Millwall with Taylor coming in on the left with Collison moving into the centre with Nolan (or maybe Lansbury will play there). This means Tomkins will continue his new career as a holding midfielder. Both Maynards and Vaz Te will be on the bench.

Apparently Diop is not fit and could be out for a few weeks yet.

The reason they didn't go for constructive dismissal was that they were given a substantial severence payment, offered on condition that everything was cut and dried and that there would be no further claims. Standard practice.

Agree entirely with your last paragraph, Tony.
If the FA offer Harry the job, he accepts it and Levy gets the compensation he wants then it will be fine and dandy. However, the preference for a British manager within the FA and the absolutley essential desire for one in both the press and with the fans will create a real quandry if Redknapp decides to stay at Tottenham. Who else is there?
If this happens I think we could see a temporary manager - almost certainly Stuart Pearce - for the Euros which says an awful lot about the country's inability to develop good coaches and managers.

Fair points there, Tom. You are right about Terry standing down until things are sorted out. Even politicians do this (eg Chris Huhne this week) and they are amongst the most self centred people around.

The winner in all this is Capello.
He is not stupid enough not to know that England will probably get knocked out of the Euros before the semi-finals so by resigning he won't have to put up with all the nonsense he would get from the press and fans who think it is our divine right to win international tournaments - even though we rarely get close.
He's trousered about £24m over four years for a part time job, is nearing retirement age and can go back to his nice house in the foothills of the Dolomites and look at his art collection.
To me this seems like a better life than trying to manage a very disparate situation.
