1 Wine Dude : Stop Hating On Pinotage, Already

One of the few Pinotages I've tried was a Kanonkop. I thought it was foul. I shudder to think there's worse Pinotage out there. Run for your life! ;)

The Wellesley Wine Press : 10 Tips for Discovering Value on Restaurant Wine Lists

That's really cool Neal. I hadn't heard of Vinopad but I looked around at the Forepaughs site and found my way to their list. Sounds like an excellent solution for keeping lists up to date. When you're dining there, do they have the wine list on iPads? Related to this, I was thinking a while back it would be really cool if wine retailers (and maybe restaurants too) would provide a way of matching a CellarTracker wishlist with their inventory. Say for example an online retailer is having a sale. I could have it build up a shopping cart with the wines on my CT wishlist. It would make more more likely to keep CT wishlists and more likely to buy stuff from retailers whose inventory I'm not familiar with.

The Wellesley Wine Press : Eversave: $35 for $70 at Wine.com

You sound like my kind of deal hound! Well done. The $25 Steward Ship has worked really nicely since Wine.com has run so many of these deals the past year. Thanks to nice people buying so many from Eversave last time around I got this one for free - hard to beat that! I bought an 08 Caymus SS earlier in the year on a similar offer and I'm tempted by the 09. The 07 Groth Reserve is also tempting. The Shafer Relentless is a fantastic play. Unfortunately, it's not available in all states right now. The 2007 Hartford Court Pinot at $44.99 seemed good but it sold out yesterday. I went for some 09 Rex Hill Pinot, 08 Bernardus Pinot, a Columbia Crest H3 Merlot (a filler, and totally overpriced, but I enjoy that wine). Also got a Marquis de la Tour sparkler which I discovered at The Capital Grille - nice stuff for $11! The Owen Roe Ex Umbris is pretty nice too - if slightly overpriced. Thanks for taking the time to share by leaving a comment. Sincerely appreciated.

2 cases - Nice haul! I was just doing some research to see what the most expensive wine was that won WS WoTY. Non-inflation adjusted it looks like in 2005 they named the $150 2002 Phelps Insignia (96 points) Wine of the Year. The 2008 Les Pavots at $175 would be the most expensive but I can see it from the perspective of working backwards towards from a story Laube would like to write. That said - the Saxum was in his beat too so it would be 2 years in a row for him and goes counter to the theory that they rotate things around so each main editor gets a chance (and the workload) of writing up and presenting the wine. We'll see soon enough!

That one's been hovering around in the Top 10 for a while - kind of like the KB Pinots. That said, I would be surprised if it popped to #1 all of a sudden. Especially since the wine kinda stinks IMHO. :) We shall see - thanks for stopping in Trouty!

98WS - nice! Pricey though. We shall see. I was chatting with Laube a couple years ago (name dropping I know) and asked him who he thought was producing the best Cab in California. He said Peter Michael without a moment of hesitation. I've never tried their stuff but would love to.

That's an RP favorite for sure but Spectator didn't rate it as far as I can tell. They haven't rated any of Anderson's wines in a while (or I should say they haven't submitted for rating probably). Anyway - I saw they had this wine in MA for $62.99 - great QPR on an RP 98 Napa Cab: http://myemail.constantcontact.com/90-Points-and-...
