Bob, you're right. Most model rocketeers buy their engines pre- manufactured from Estes or Centuri in packs of 2 or 3 for...christ it's been too many years, about $10 a pack? Once you surpass E class engines they get expensive and aren't readily available over the counter at Phil's Hobby shop, much beyond E class and you need a federal license and even more disposable income to purchase them, ask the rocketeers. I'm not sure what compounds are used to construct those engines but I do know that sometimes they do detonate even when manufactured under strict control.

No way will I vote for Lugar again. If it comes down to there just being him and a Democrat running for that senate seat then I'll vote for the Democrat. At least the Democrat is honest enough to tell me which party best represents his philosophies.

Hard to draw a firm conclusion from the INC report, but it sounds like the guy was into model rocketry and just wanted to take his craft beyond the over the counter D&E class rockets. I had thought about trying that after watching a program about it on the Discovery Channel. Turns out Rocket engines beyond E class are rather salty and require a federal license to purchase.

If all he was doing was dabbling in model rocketry then he certainly went about it in a stupid way, I'm sure he realizes it now that he lost his left hand over it. That said, maybe it's a good idea to let the police finish their investigation before trying to make an issue out of seat belt violations, speeding tickets, a divorce and a court hearing pertaining to unknown circumstances that was dismissed. Perhaps there's more to this story, but as it stands right now it looks like you could be posting this guy's personal life on the interweb over poor judgement on his part.

If acts of stupidity where punishable with jail time we'd all have criminal records... just sayin'.

For some reason I've got the feeling the big eared guy in the White House will find a way to circumvent Congress and the Constitution to strike down these state laws. There's too much campaign cash at stake for Democrats. I'll never understand those idiots, corporate contributions are evil, but union contributions are patriotic or something. Both pedal influence, if you're honestly against money influencing politics then you should be opposed to both.
