I Rate Films : Red Tails

Branden, it was essentially like the LucasArts game, Secret Weapons Over Normandy with a little more character development. Yea, the dogfights were pretty cool, but I just couldn\\\'t stop focusing on that tacky music - - - again, like Secret Weapons Over Normandy, which is one of the best WWII dogfighter games ever made . . . for the original XBox at least. And, thanks for your comment - we are fueled by comments here!

I Rate Films : War Horse

Steven Spielberg for “War Horse”: “I am thrilled with our multiple nominations for "The Help" and "War Horse." It is the first time that I have experienced two Best Picture nominations in the same year. One is a high honor. Two is humbling but very exciting. It is a tribute to all those who joined with Stacey Snider and our DreamWorks Studios team to develop and make these two films with stories that we passionately felt we had to make.” - Steven Spielberg From Producer Kathleen Kennedy for “War Horse”: "We are thrilled for the nominations War Horse has received and most of all thankful to have been working under the leadership of Steven Spielberg whose moral clarity, vision and sensitive handling of the Great War might serve in some small way to raise awareness of war's pointlessness." - Kathleen Kennedy

I Rate Films : Hugo

"I am deeply honored to have been nominated by the Academy for my work on Hugo. Every picture is a challenge, and this one where I was working with 3D, HD and Sacha Baron Cohen for the first time was no exception. It¹s a wonderful feeling to know that you¹ve been recognized by the people in your industry. I congratulate my fellow nominees. It¹s an impressive list, and I'm in excellent company." Martin Scorsese Academy Award nominated in the Best Director and Best Picture categories for "HUGO" "It's always a thrill to work with Marty and Thelma and collaborating with them was a labor of love. It was inspiring to compose within the world of Hugo. It's a great honor to be nominated by the Academy." Howard Shore - Academy Award nomination in the Original Score category for "HUGO"

Today's nomination is a huge boost of encouragement for the hundreds of dedicated cast and crew that have created such a beautiful film.
I Rate Films : Rango

Gore Verbinski Statement - Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature Film for RANGO. It is an incredible honor to be nominated this morning. We set out to do something different with RANGO, and this distinction is a testament to everyone who tirelessly dedicated themselves to creating our neurotic lizard. Rango was looking for an audience who shared his love of cinema and I’m humbled that he found one. It has been a remarkable journey, and one that I am grateful to share with our entire creative team, Paramount, and all of the virtuosos at Industrial, Light and Magic.

I Rate Films : The Artist

THE ARTIST Bérénice Bejo (Nominee Actress in a Supporting Role) I¹m overjoyed and filled with happiness. I can¹t believe that a year ago I was learning how to tap dance and today I am nominated for an Academy Award. It was a thrill to work on a project as ambitious as “The Artist” and I am happy to share this moment with our visionary director, Michel Hazanavicius. Jean Dujardin (Nominee Actor in a Leading Role) I am so grateful to the Academy for this recognition. I can’t help but stop and think about how incredible this journey has been. From filming on a Hollywood soundstage to the moment I received this wonderful news this morning, I’m so humbled to be amongst such distinguished and talented people. It is Michel’s beautiful film that has led me here today. I also share this with the brilliant cast and crew. Michel Hazanavicius (Nominee Directing and Original Screenplay) I am so honored for this nomination. Filming “The Artist” in Los Angeles was a dream come true, and to receive this recognition today is far beyond what I ever imagined. I couldn¹t have done this film without the incredible cast of actors and outstanding crew whose heart and souls were poured into this project. Thomas Langmann (Nominee Best Picture) I am very humbled by this morning¹s nominations. This must be how my father felt back in 1965 when he received his first Oscar nomination. “The Artist” was a labor of love from writer/director Michel Hazanavicius to pay homage to Hollywood, and to see all the love that the Academy has given it this morning is overwhelming. Laurence Bennett (Nominee Art Direction - Production Design) It is truly an honor to have the art direction of THE ARTIST recognized by the Academy. In taking on the unique design opportunity that Michel's vision offered, we felt a tremendous responsibility to all the artists of early Hollywood. To spend months immersed in their world and their work was a gift to the entire design team--and our work was inspired, informed, and elevated immeasurably by what they taught us. Robert Gould (Nominee Art Direction - Set Decoration) I am honored to be nominated for a academy award for such a beautiful film that is love letter to Hollywood. Since I was born in Hollywood and second generation in the film business I went to work each day filled with enthusiasm. I am proud to contribute to something that shows gratitude to the business that has given my family and myself so much gratification. Ludovic Bource (Nominee Music, Original Score) I am humbled and over-joyed to learn of my Oscar nomination. Last week I came to Hollywood for the first time in my life, which in of itself, was a dream come true. I started playing the accordion when I was 8 years old, I wish I could go back in time at tell myself about today, the dream continues!

I Rate Films : Fair Game

H-Man, I watched this the other night and I think your review nailed it, I too found it hard to be completely immersed in the story, because it was a very one-sided showing of the events, where pretty much anyone in Bush's circle was made a buffoon, at one point calling an intelligence officer a tool . . . things like that I thought would have been more believable had they really shown more of why the tools were moving . . . so to speak. The actors had me loving and hating them at all the right places, and that is all I ever ask, so they did a terrific job there. I was not a frothing at the mouth conservative during this affair, but I was hardly in the Plame corner, but after seeing this film, it really did bring the human element to the forefront of HUMINT, and that aint all bad.

I Rate Films : The Devil's Double

Had this on my desk for a week, then on 12/15 I watched it, the day BHO declared he ended the war that Bush ended in his End Forces Agreement to bring the troops home in November 2011, so he actually extended it, but anyway. Watching it that night brought a little closure. This was an entertaining film, and watching the behind the scenes stuff is a must, as you hear the director unapologetically saying, this isn't a biopic, it is a gangster film! If you watch it as a historian, you may cringe, if you watch it as a gangster film, it has more oomph, but, I suggest you watch it for an interesting take on what defines a character/role in the "real world"

I Rate Films : The Beaver

Finally had a chance to watch this one, not at all what I was expecting, but it was certainly an excellent little film. Watching the behind the scenes interview with Foster was interesting as well, as she essentially said the tack she took could have been down several paths, choosing the path she took made the film all that more interesting. Perhaps my biggest gripe was that Foster's character was undersold.

I Rate Films : Troll Hunter

Even PA had its weak moments, like the Ouija board scene, was painfully CGI\\\'d - I stand by my review, I have always liked fairy tales, and I can easily see room for a sequel, if I were to write it, it would be about some doubting Americans who set out to prove the footage false, only to wind up troll poop. As for the Alien abduction thing, read my \\\"The Fourth Kind\\\" review, the film did the same, this is REAL, WE SWEAR . . . bit :)

I Rate Films : The Fourth Kind

Fire in the Sky was excellent, no doubt, Communion was solid as well. Still, the scene where the alien makes its presence known and utters "I AM God!" pretty much fucked with my mind's eye for a few nights, so it got an extra star. Still, it didn't suck as bad as Hereafter :) BURN!

Lorent, thank you so much for your comments. I didn't really read them all before, because I wanted to see the movie, and typically people put a lot of spoilers in comments. Like Limacher, I was unaware such communities still existed, or that meth seemed to be the only thing keeping them going. Thank you for sharing those films as well. Have you, by any chance, seen Songcatcher? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0210299/ I could have lived without all the fluff, but it was an incredible film for showing the rich musical culture of the forgotten Americas.
