The article mentions several times that for the syndication system to work for you, your content must be excellent. (E.g, last sentence of paragraph 3: "If your content is really good, syndication can set off a viral spread through social channels.") If your content doesn't inspire people, you are certainly wasting your time.
Franco, Fernando, Kefin, Dolf - I really appreciate you taking the time to read the article. And if you have any ideas for articles on other aspects of content syndication that would benefit you, let me know. - Richard
I think it IS simple. But that doesn't mean it's easy. I'm pretty sure MrBabyMan has had plenty of disappointments and setbacks along the way to building his Digg empire. But when you work backwards from the current result, the plan itself is just a few simple steps. - Richard
Kareena - You make a really good point. All anyone needs to do is look at the last 15 years of the internet and the world. Changes we could never, ever have predicted. You are right - the key is to observe and participate and be open, and who knows what the payoff may be? - Richard
Phil - The purpose here is to show how to locate a social media Power User and then back-engineer what they have done, so you can do it yourself, for Digg or any other social network. I consider it a pretty powerful skill. You are certainly free to ignore it. - Richard
Gary - Thanks. I appreciate your comments. And having read some of your articles, I know you have the ability to create that great content. - Richard
Phil - To me, the key to success and happiness is high-quality, mutually-beneficial relationships. That automatically says you have to be selective, because each relationship requires a certain amount of time. The higher the quality, usually, the more time is required to build & maintain the relationship. Example: I only have one wife. A larger number would make my life much more complex than I want.- Richard
You said it perfectly, Andrew. The #1 value of the internet is the opportunity to learn from each other and to gain new skills much faster than we ever could before. Helping & encouraging each other benefits us as individuals more than any other options. - Richard
