84 weeks ago @ A Hammer In The Skull ... - Are You Full of Fat Pr... · 0 replies · +1 points

The point of the post was a response to the attitude that one can be morbidly overweight and still be healthy and that is untrue. There is a reason why health professionals refer to the obesity rates in America as an epidemic. My little "text" as you put it is nothing more than a response to the article I gave a link to. Lets say for arguments sake, that the situation was reversed. Lets say that obesity was not an epidemic and that anorexia was. Lets say that there was a growing lobbyist group for people who weighed 80 lb. or less and were saying that they were full of "thin" pride. Then I would have posted a picture of some anorexic man/woman and criticized them as well. However that is not the point here. What is the point is that, as you yourself have admitted, that being morbidly obese is unhealthy. To say that a person can be healthy and be this overweight is an oxymoron. While it may be a struggle for some to lose weight, and I understand that, that does not excuse the fact that, in general, people do not care about their health. I'm sure you've seen how many fast food restaurants cover the American landscape, and more importantly, how many people visit them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The criticism(s) in this post were meant for those people. They were, and still are, directed at these people who make the false claim that people can be fat and healthy. While everyone cannot be supermodel thin (which in my opinion is just as bad as being obese) everyone can be a healthy weight. Unfortunately it will take more work for some than for others because of genetic factors. So lastly, good luck to you on your adventure. I hope all the best for you.

While I may have been unclear by not showing the difference between the concept of the "Prosperity Gospel" with that of other denominations, the concept of giving 10% of all that one owns is something that is often preached in various churches, by various pastors. While your church may not follow this doctrine, there are many that do and that was the point.

Clearly you did stop reading the post because at the end of that paragraph I clarify why I took that position by examining the link between that language and the current political climate. Take for instance the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. These undertook because of a violent mentality that is embraced by the Conservative right. The educated few who took a stance against these irrational actions were labeled as un-American and nothing but "educated idiots" and progressed this idea that intellectuals are somehow out of touch with reality because they think.

If you would have read the entire post, you would have also noticed that the point of the post was to rebuke this stupid notion that Barack Obama is a socialist/communist because he received praise from Fidel Castro.

This "petty poking", or as I like to look at it, paying attention to details is important and needed. By ignoring the even slightest details, you lose valuable insight. So while you may choose to remain ignorant by ignoring such details, I will continue to pay attention to them.

Thanks for reading,

There isn't any knowledge that can be found in superstitious nonsense. Superstition cannot solve the worlds problems when it has created the world's problems since the beginning. Thus if we want to solve the worlds problems, we must start at where the problems are starting, religion. Religion is a cancer. It creates a world that is devoid of intelligence, morality, and human decency. So while you may believe that the "word of God" aka the Bible, is full of wonderful fairy tales that will advance civilization, I see only the destruction it has brought and the ignorance it continues to instill in mankind.

Okay, I have a few things here. First of all, thank you for pointing out my various grammar mistakes...even though you didn't. You actually just told me to "proofread" but all in all, since my grammar clearly sucks, thanks for aiding me in correcting that (however little you did actually help).

Now as to the assertion that I called Natalie Mosher stupid. In all actuality, I didn't. What I said was "It takes a certain amount of stupidity to run for public office and to ignore the questions of the very people who will be voting for you" which is far from saying that she herself is stupid. What I did say was that she is unqualified because she couldn't answer 3 simple questions (and she still hasn't) while her opponent answered those very same questions a full 3 months earlier than Natalie Mosher and I sent him an email one week after I sent one to Natalie Mosher.

Thus to say that she should not be held accountable in terms of the basic campaign process (i.e. when your asked a question, give a response even if it isn't an answer) is rather dumbfounding. I expect more from my representatives. While you may be willing for mediocrity, I am not. However you have provided a perfect illustration of our current political world. A world of mediocrity breed from mediocre people.

Thanks for reading.

I would love to see you back up your statements, but since you haven't, it seems that you are an example of the same "self-arrogance" that you have accused me of. No I am not motivated by "verbalizing" obviously because I have written down my thoughts/opinions, not spoken of them via podcast/youtube video. Thus, if anyone is trying to impress anyone, it seems that you are simply trying to impress yourself. So give yourself a pat on the back. This must have been so difficult for someone of your intelligence.

There is nothing remarkable (at least in a positive sense) about Rick Warren or his church. I never said that the money that was raised was a hate act. I simply revealed the irony to the amount of money spent by the religious right in California (and even Maine for that matter) and the fact that the church needed financial aid within a year of that.

As for my opinions with Rick Warren, I am sure that you would agree with me if I said these exact same things about a member of the KKK or its equivalent. However sense Rick only spreads hate against the LGBT community, then I guess he is off limits. Sorry but your wrong. His hatred of LGBT people is just as horrific and wrong as the KKK's hatred of non-white people.

While the church may do wonderful things in helping the poor and disenfranchised, that does not negate the fact that the church supported, as did Rick Warren, a ballot measure that legalized discrimination against a minority.

Prop 8 did one thing and one thing only. It institutionalized "Separate But Equal" at the whims of a group of scared religious zealots. And when Rick Warren puts out a letter saying that the church is in financial trouble and asks for donations to help save the church, then the church is obviously not as financially stable as you would like everyone to believe.

And I am glad to hear that you are willing to "fight to the death" to make sure that I have my opinions. I am not really sure how you may do that being that you have zero control over them, but thank you. It is to bad that you are still defending Prop 8 as some kind of measure protecting your religious freedoms when it has nothing to do with them.

I am not sure what Sen. Reid is doing. He could have called the Republican bluff and started over from the very beginning only using reconciliation. True it would have taken longer to get healthcare reform done, but at least it would be healthcare reform that would be worth passing.

Wow...such enlightening words from a "proud heterosexual". As always lets point out the numerous fallacies here. First of all, aversion to homosexuality has not kept our species from going extinct. Being that virtually all other animal on this planet contain homosexual. There are such things as gay monkeys, dogs, sheep, birds, and even fruit-flies. Second according to the latest polling, you and these so-called proud heterosexuals are in the minority. Lastly, you are all hypocrites because science shows that more than 80 of "homophobic" males have either reported same-sex fantasies or when shown gay erotica had physical reactions.

So no, I am sorry for the reality check.
