Offbeat Mama : A water birth story

The more stories I read about water births the more I am considering it. Reading Ashby&#039;s story was one of the first that gave me reason to think it might be something that I could imagine doing myself.

Offbeat Bride : A simple forest wedding reminder

I have said I was not that kind of girl who was always planning her wedding in the back of her head, even when she did not have a potential partner in her life (like some of my friends), but there is one exception. My grandparents used to live in a house that had a deck like this surrounded by trees in their back yard and I fancied I would have a small family-only wedding very much like this. Which is nothing like I had in the end, mainly because my grandparents had moved by then, but also because I always felt that my wedding should be a celebration of both me and my partner and what we did reflected what interests we shared. It turned out a lot more involved than I had ever imagined, but it suited us and we loved how it turned out. However, I look at these photos and smile because it is so much like the only wedding fantasy I had pre-planning.

The colors leave me with too many options. I already like the one shown, and could see doing the teal with aqua lining, or like Niki, chocolate with lime lining. <a href="http://twitter.com/Ragani/status/10042211473" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/Ragani/status/10042211473</a>

Good eye Ariel! I love the asymmetry of a front pocket, but still being able to put it on like a jacket. <a href="http://twitter.com/Ragani/status/10041962651" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/Ragani/status/10041962651</a>

Offbeat Bride : Creating email invites can save money, be eco-friendly, and still be personal

All good advise! I initially created the design for print then later used it to base the email from so I did end up printing a handful for them out from the high res version. I also started in Photoshop and worked on a grid, although I ended up having to simplify it the final design a bunch once I realized how much was lost when the images were not shown. Using the most basic, table-based HTML was exactly what I ended up doing in the end, and it helped to keep things aligned as designed.

Once it was all set-up it was easier then sending separate emails. If I had a small guest list I would probably not have bothered. The only downside was that some email clients are not that great about receiving this type of email. AOL addresses especially tend to not see the email.

Offbeat Mama : Eating placenta rocked my post-partum world

My mom says she ate the one from my birth, but I think she had a friend cook it with onions or something (I will have to ask her again). I could probably have her do the dry &amp; encapsulate method for me easily enough as she not only will support me in this but has the skills to figure out how to do this.

Offbeat Bride : Bailey & Chris Sewing-themed, Texas theater wedding

Yes, Megan is correct. I thought about mentioning it, but I think it has more impact coming from her. Will comes off a bit cool in his reactions, so as Megan says, a &quot;Cool!&quot; from him means he definitely approves. Since he thoroughly embraces his Grumpy Critic side, getting his approval is not a sure thing. Of course, this wedding appeals to his theater geek side, which is why I showed him in the first place.

Baily, this is great! I love the theater theme. We nearly went more theater than we ended up but it was the jumping off point for our planning. Chris is such a cutie (love the pink toes) and he sounds a lot like my Will in his involvement in the planning. Making the wedding about us payed off when I hit on the idea that Will, as a theater major, should get married in a theater. He got really into the planning, including writing the ceremony and designing the schedule as a three act event. I showed him this  profile of your wedding and he said &quot;Cool!&quot;

Thanks everyone! I am excited I finally got my profile sorted out and sent in so I can see it here! Monika, seeing your profile posted so quickly reminded me that I had been slacking. Even with Megan gently nagging me to get my profile sent in, I was still putting off rewriting the entry. I had it all written fairly early on, but lost it when my computer crashed and did not have the heart to fill it all out again that day (inertia being what it is). This time I got Will to sit down with me and include some of his thoughts too. And Rachel B, with you sending our your thank you cards less than a week after your own wedding (which was only this last Saturday!!!) Will and I are both feeling shamed about not having finished our Thank You cards. Sigh...
