I do watch glenn and agree he's impartial when it comes to shedding the light on misdeeds and corruption. I am a fan. My comment is more directed to names like Newt Gingrich and republican stratagists who came out during the tea parties to embrace the movement. My point was that the GOP has lost my confidence on issues such as shrinking government and reducing taxes.

part 1
(1) the term `torture' means any act, directed against an individual in the offender's custody or physical control, by which severe pain or suffering (other than pain or suffering arising only from or inherent in, or incidental to, lawful sanctions), whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on that individual for such purposes as obtaining from that individual or a third person information or a confession, punishing that individual for an act that individual or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, intimidating or coercing that individual or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind; and

I like dictionary.com's definition it is clear and specific. This definition still excludes waterboarding untill it can be proved that the practice causes excruciating pain. As I understand it, waterboarding cause extreme fear, if that can be equated to mental pain then it is torture.
My opinion on this matter is that sometimes the ends justify the means. If valuable information was obtained during an interogation and extreme physical pain was not inflicted then the practice is legal. I do not believe that mental anguish is torture. Sleep deprivation, loud music, and barking dogs are not torture methods. Waterboarding presents us with an interesting argument, does the fear of drowning equate to the infliction of excruciating pain?

Using the first webster's definition would condemn any police officer that has handcuffed a prisioner too tight. That causes pain to the wrists and is thereby torture. I believe that this definition is too vague, pain without intention should not be considered torture, in my opinion. Take webster's second definition, the infliction of intense pain (as from burning, crushing, or wounding) to punish, coerce, or afford sadistic pleasure. Very specific, however this would eliminate waterboarding as torture, because there was no burning, crushing, or wounding involved.

What is torture? Webster's dictionary defines torture as :
1 a: anguish of body or mind : agony b: something that causes agony or pain.
2: the infliction of intense pain (as from burning, crushing, or wounding) to punish, coerce, or afford sadistic pleasure. Dictionary.com lists their definition as:
1. the act of inflicting excruciating pain, as punishment or revenge, as a means of getting a confession or information, or for sheer cruelty.

Freeflight, if we had to settle for just two parties since the beggining of this nation the political makeup of the country would be whig and federalist. New parties are supposed to emerge. I'm tired of wearing the red shirt and railing against the blue dog dems. Especially when are support is often thrown back in our faces and the Republicans end up spending just as much of our money if not more. It is time for some real change, a new political party based on values, principals, morals, and ethics.

Just as it is important to stand up to the attacks from the left, we must be careful not to allow the right to adopt our movement either. No matter where you stand politically we have started something that has legs. It is centered around values and pricipals. We CAN NOT allow the Republican party to claim that they are the representation of the 9-12 project or the tea party movement. They are just as musch to blame for the roll back of freedoms and the over taxation that has taken place over the last 100 years. The Democrats are going to attack us for being whiny about the outcome of the election. We need to hammer home the point that we have lost our representation long ago. Niether side represents the values and principals of mainstream america. We need to break the back of the two party stranglehold on our nation and bring the voters more choices this election day.
