Flew in to Tortola. One of the other couples took the ferry. We liked flying in - seemed like a little less work than carrying luggage on the ferry.

I'm usually better at starting arguments, rather then settling them. Glad to be of service!

Hi Mike,
Just sold Patches about a month ago and the paint held up great. Some of the red (that was just the cosmetic paint) did scrape off on barnacles, but not the rubberizing gray underpaint. I would recommened going with gray on gray though. That way, it wouldn't be noticeable if you missed a few spots when applying the second, water based paint topcoat.

It's a boat hook and technically he's orange. :)

She'll get up on plane at around 14 knots burning 5 gallons/minute. Key West here we come!

Thanks to Antony for reminding me of your request. Boat was in very good condition. A few things I would recommend. Make sure you have the windscoops and check that they are in good shape. Some of ours were nearing retirement. Ask for blankets. None were provided and it got chilly at night when we went. July may not be an issue. Also take your own beach towels and even some extra bath towels. I really can't think of much else. The charter company was fantastic.
Another thing I would really, really recommend is a big tarp and some bungees. The searing hot midday sun renders the front trampoline practically unusable. If you could cover it with a big shade tarp (easily rigged) it would be a great place for afternoon naps and hanging out.

Definitely! If my camera survives the trip down, I will max out my memory card and do a thorough post about it. Already got my "travelers journal" complete with authentic looking leather tie ready for documentation.

When the boat is deflated, you can lift straight up on one of the boards - probably the center, and it will come apart. I don't know about yours, but I will never take mine apart again. The boards were very difficult to get back in. Maybe I didn't have the right techinque, don't know, but it took a lot of cursing to get it back together. The next dinghy will be an air-filled floor for sure.
