GeekTyrant : A Fan Asks David O. Russell To Cast Nathan Fillion As Drake In UNCHARTED - News - GeekTyrant

Yes, but this is assuming he's even done a search for Uncharted. Considering the rumors about casting and plot, the director hasn't looked at anything to do with Uncharted; he was probably just told the name of the series, main character (maybe a couple side characters) and a general idea about relics/antiques and then he went from there with his own tangent. There's zero chance of me seeing this film...unless the director is fired and a completely new creative team is brought in to work on it, and the casting is improved.

GreyWardens.Com - Dragon Age™ Origins Blog - News, Infos, Screenshots, Downloads, Walkthrough : GameInformer's Dragon Age 2 Preview

I think it will be interesting to see how they make the 10 year progression work. I agree that there is an issue as to what times or events are considered "key" or "important" to the story, and what is missed or not told in depth. Though, since Bioware seems to put together decent games, I'm not too worried. Also, from how I read the article, it seems the idea is to allow the gamer to see the consequences of his/her choices faster, or at least do it with a sense of time passing. That's one issue I have with the linear games, if the sense of how much time has actually gone by; everything is sort of static, so while some things may change, its hard to really have a feeling of passing time. I think if this is done well, it will work out better, giving a sense of large and important choices being made, seeing what happens from it and knowing time has gone by.

GeekTyrant : GeekTyrant - News - STAR TREK 2 Gets a Release Date!

I thought the new Trek was good. Definitely good enough to make me want to see the sequel. I agree about the writers though. And that can be a good or bad thing. Good, because it can bring in new things and shake up the mold a bit which, when done well, gives new life to a series. Bad, because it can just take what old fans like about the series and ruin it. With people like that, I'd let them write a preliminary script, then have someone with a bit more care look over it to perhaps strike a balance.

Yeah, I think the changes were the point of the whole parallel universe storyline. This isn't the same timeline of the original crew, it is an alternate one where, as you said, they can do whatever they want. Its actually a very good idea. They get to go on making Star Trek the way they want, and it doesn't really infringe on the originals because its a completely different timeline. So, there isn't any screw ups in this Star Trek, because its different. As for the different sound and visual effects: seriously? Who cares?

Since I haven't seen Man on Fire, I can't say exactly. But Taken was lacking in both those areas; the story and drama could have been better. The action was very good.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Tales Of Inaccurate Wonderment

I'm still a huge fan of Star Wars. Yeah, mostly the original series--saw Jedi when I was eight, and when they went back to theaters a few years after that...I was hooked. I still enjoy the prequels, but they definitely don't hold up against the original trilogy. Do like some of the expanded universe. I've read my share of the books, which are very hit or miss. Mostly I kind of like what was being done with the really Old Republic. But I tend to try and come up with my own stories, even if they ignore canon.

GeekTyrant : UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE Movie Gets Conan Writers

Yeah. That's some rumor I read on kotaku. So, I can't be certain to how valid it is. I completely agree. If someone, for once, acts intelligently and does a decent job casting, then perhaps they may have something. And I really hope they take a look at Fillion.

Yeah, I know. That's exactly what I thought when I read a rumor of producers looking into Hugh Jackman for Drake. Now, I don't mind Jackman, but I just don't see him as that character. And Fillion is somewhat of an unknown. Castle may be helping in that regard somewhat, but probably nowhere near enough to be a draw, unfortunately.

Very true. And I usually pay no attention to film adaptations, since they are a horrible bastardization of the source materiel. I'm holding out a bit longer on this one, which is probably a mistake. But I'll definitely keep tabs on what they do with it before deciding I'd actually spend my money to watch it. Though, as I said, I'm holding out my hope for a decent adaptation a bit longer. I'm hoping they can work with the game already being cinematic as it is; and possibly seeing it as the successor to Indiana Jones, in a way. Also, they'd go a pretty decent way of gaining more of my faith if they cast Nathon Fillion as Drake.

Honestly, I wasn't really interested in the game when it first released. But after hearing so many good things about the original Uncharted, I picked it up when it dropped to half-price. I sorely underrated that game. Aside from a few control issues, it was a great game. The sequel is even better: better controls, sharper writing, more cinematic. I couldn't put the game down. I even plan on having an Uncharted marathon, as I'd do with movies. I really look forward to a film adaptation. Though there is the usual worry of it being done properly. They already have most of the elements in the game: story, dialogue, adventure and cinematic feel. Obviously the film will need its own slight tweaks, but if they hold on to those major bits, this should be good. I just hope they get some decent casting.

GeekTyrant : NEW MOON Achieves Best Opening Day EVER!

See, I don't have a problem with people enjoying the books, or the films. I understand from what I've heard of them, they are a nice mindless, simple read--nothing taxing in terms of plot, character or themes. And that's fine. What bothers me is when the fan-base gets fanatical. Hell, I couldn't touch the Harry Potter books for years because the amount of hype and praise it was getting turned me off. But, when something that is obviously mediocre and shallow--which is admitted by some of the people who like it--is off breaking records and such...it can only be a bad thing. It becomes a giant neon sign for entertainment creators, telling them that this is what sells, so they should make more of it. That's why TV is currently plagued with numerous versions of crime/comedy/dramas--CSI worked so well, we can do it too, just with a twist.

GeekTyrant : PERCY JACKSON & the OLYMPIANS International Trailer

I had heard a bit of the casting before, so I knew Sean Bean and Pierce Brosnan were in the film. But actually seeing it is nice. And I was talking with someone else about the conflict of who will be the better Zeus, Liam Neeson or Sean Bean. Personally, I find it a tough call since I like both of them. Though, Neeson probably will end up being better, I'll enjoy seeing them both playing the character.

Well, there's usually some changes when moving from book to film. Just have to hope they aren't so glaringly bad as to ruin the translation. As for the important bit, I'd have no clue to what it is. Anyway, the trailer has tempted me... Sean Bean as Zeus doesn't hurt either. Might have to check out the books though.
