Dennis Kucinich is dead right. The big build-up to war with Iran is nothing more than the big build-up to the war with Iraq - a conspiracy theory based on rumors from the likes of secret agent, 'Curve Ball.'

Unfortunately, Paul will not stop the killing because he does not have even "a microscopic chance of winning." We should hope that he does maximum damage to the Republican attempt to replicate the NSDAP circa 1932. And, we should hope he will continue to wreak havoc on them via a third party candidacy. But, hope what you like, his chances of winning are less than zero.

News From Antiwar.com : Gen. Dempsey Schedules Visit to Reassure Israel on Threatening Iran

The frenzy for war with Iran is nearing fever pitch. Restraining Israel should really not be that difficult. Reminding her that she has a lot to lose should make them come to their senses. Right now, they are planning an assault, but they are apparently presuming that Iran will remain supine and inert. That is absurd. Crude oil prices will skyrocket wrecking the extremely feeble economic recovery, and Israel will be hit hard by Iranian missiles. Netnayahu should expect catastrophic damage to Tel Aviv, Haifa, Dimona and Herzilya for starters. An Israeli attack will instantaneously depose Assad in Syria and replace him with the Muslim Brotherhood and grant Hizbullah control of Lebanon. The Israeli attack on Iran will topple King Abdullah in Jordan, and he will be replaced by the Muslim Brotherhood. In other words, even the Netanyahu government is not stupid enough to attack Iran, so that is why they are demanding that the US under Obama take up their fight for them. Finally, there is not one shred of evidence that Iran is anywhere near a nuke. The American public can take only so much propaganda, then Lincoln's dictum will kick into operation -- and the warmongers will be turned out of office. In the run-up to the November election, it could be political suicide to attack Iran for any one who attempts it. BTW - if Obama does fall into this trap, the Republicans will turn coat in the twinkling of an eye to condemn him for it. Mitt Romney will turncoat from an unbridled supporter of Israel into an antiwar campaigner to rid Washington of its wrongheaded, counterproductive and ruinous foreign policy.

Chossudovsky is right. We are being subjected to a propaganda deluge - a buildup before the opening of hostilities between the US and Iran - ie. the Iran War. A war that will destroy what tattered remnants that are left of America's standing in the world. A war to reduce the US to a military encampment organized around the concept of the Homeland Security Nation - the expansion of our already grotesque national security apparatus where millions of moderately gifted Americans control Top Secret intelligence that controls all government policy. Perhaps, the mask will come off and we shall witness the stark naked power of the Military Dictatorship that the USA has definitely become. Bolivia, here I come.

You are dead right, gwynn - the Democratic Party is the only viable option. Let others wail on about Rocky Anderson, he is just a tiny, perhaps, infinitesimal cypher in the political scheme of things. The Justice Party will fall flat on its electoral face. The infiltration of the Democratic Party is the only truly revolutionary political act available. Those calling for yet another Republican president in hopes of radicalism provoking a social collapse and revolution are living in Cloud Cuckoo Land - and I have heard them utter their nonsense in every presidential election cycle since 1968. Nixon was supposed to be the triggering agent for revolution, the Reagan, then Bush in 2000. We have the results of history to refute that hoary old paradigm - right-wing leaders simply strengthen the reactionary institutions and shift the nation to the right in a process that has been ongoing over the past 44 years. Progressives are great theorists, but lousy politicians. Now is the time that they are compelled to act - and the only intelligent action is infiltrate the Democratic Party, it is not going to collapse of its own accord. Years of progressive political failure have left the Democratic Party to the corporate fascists like the DLC, but the DLC collapsed last year - and it closed it doors. Even Ralph Nader says that he will sit out this cycle, because the Republicans are so dangerously ignorant. We should all occupy the local Democratic precinct meetings - that is the act of ultimate revolution - not, attempting to install yet another right-wing military dictator or traipsing after a third party fantasy. Those experiments have been tried, and tried and tried - and they all failed. Einstein's dictum applies to politics just as much as to physics: “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” is supported by his second, “Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

News From Antiwar.com : Russia, China Warn US Against Attacking Iran

@MarineLJ - Very good question. US policy in the Middle East is risible because it is unbalanced, disconnected, one-sided and unfair. It is mind-boggling that any nation with a rogue nuclear arsenal should place demands upon another nation sans even one confirmed nuke. This entire Israel-Iran contretemps is the nadir of US foreign policy. Congress should hang its collective head in shame for voting 407 to 6 to stop funding the Palestinians if they sought UN recognition. That one is like shooting one's self in the head. In fact, US policy vis a vis Israel-Palestine has become a game of Russian Roulette - self-destructive, counterproductive, self-damaging and potentially dangerous to the national security of the USA.

News From Antiwar.com : Afghanistan Would Side With Pakistan in War With US

The Afghanis must not appreciate all the fine work done in their impoverished nation by NATO led by the USA. Why on earth they would ally themselves with Pakistan against the USA (the world's most powerful and richest nation) is beyond belief. They must be Anti-American - and it is a dead cert that they hate our freedoms. What they don't like about bombing, torture, interrogation, military occupation and constant police and military harassment is beyond me.

News From Antiwar.com : Rep. Myrick Cancels 9/11 Appearances Over Mention in Liberal Think Tank's Report

Justin has now gone off the deep end. Defending Ron Paul while the rest of the world bears down on Paul's appalling record and defending the America First Committee - an organization riddled with Nazi spies is a task far beyond the kin of anybody other than a right-wing zealot. Justin, please, examine the trend to delve more deeply into "Dr. Paul." Ron Paul hates the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Paul loves the NRA and the feeling is mutual. Paul is pro-life and a champion for the pro-life movement. Paul wants to return to the gold standard. Paul is appalling.

Antiwar.com Original Articles : Rick Perry, 'Hawk Internationalist'

Rick Perry appears to be on a mission to either: (1) move the Republican Party even farther to the right than its current position on the far, far right of the political spectrum or (2) destroy it. After Ron Paul's strong showing in the Ames Straw Poll yesterday, perhaps, there is a faint possibility of a wrenching and divisive struggle for the heart and soul of the GOP - but I doubt it. It seems as if the Evangelicals and Fundamentalists control too many of the levers of power, and movements this ideological tend to gravitate to their extremes. George W. Bush told many people in the White House, the Pentagon, Congress and even foreign diplomats that he spoke directly to "God," so, now Perry launches his presidential campaign at a prayer rally for 30,000 Texas fundamentalists while quoting the Prophet Joel. The upside is this: if Perry loses to Obama, the infinitesimal Ron Paul/Rand Paul faction might be able to grow just a tiny bit in the aftermath. If Perry wins, the USA will swiftly launch WWIII with an attack on Iran and a permanent occupation of their oil-producing regions - largely along their Gulf Coast just east of Kuwait and Basra. The idea that Ron Paul will become his principle opposition is appealing, but is it realistic? Bachmann trumped Paul in the Ames Straw Poll, Paul's best shot at breaking away from the pack. Let's hope Perry fades into the dusk of the fundamentalist era of the GOP, but let's prepare for the worst: a new American Caesar on a mission to remove George W. Bush's most globally acknowledged distinction as the Worst President in American History - so he can have and hold it for his very own.

– Breivik cites blogger Pamella Geller several times in his manifesto, reprints articles praising her: Geller, the writer behind the popular anti-Muslim blog Atlas Shrugs, has been perhaps the most proactive anti-Muslim activist, given the fact she was the first to smear the planned Park51 community center as a “victory mosque” and was involved in demonstrations against the construction before most of the media gained an interest. As Geller travels the country promoting her belief that Muslims are an inherent threat to American society, she has been connected to protests against mosques in California, Tennessee, and other states.

Information Clearing House - News you won't find on CNN :  Ralph Nader Is Tired of Running for President   :    &nb

Hedges means well. Nader means well. But, neither of them know how to organize their own precinct. Nader is particularly adroit at tilting the political advantage to the Republicans. And, we must recall that Nader did receive substantial sums from right-wing extremist Republicans (Milton Scaife) who cynically used him to siphon off Democratic votes. Nader and Hedges would deny that the totality of the progressive social legislation from FDR to Obama came via the Democratic Party. Perhaps, they are jealous. Democrats can legislate: Social Security; Medicare; Civil Rights; Voting Rights; Equal Rights; Health Care Reform and repeal DADT. Democrats from JFK to Obama can champion nuclear non-proliferation. Democrats do make huge mistakes in foreign policy from the Cold War to Libya - but they are supported by Republicans and a sizeable chunk of the body politic. It seems as though Nader and Hedges are frustrated by their own lack of success. Hedges is readable and admirable. Hedges is not above asserting his own self-aggrandizement and pronouncing himself one of the 'good people' as he does above. While they are moral and ethical pillars, let's face it -- they sit on their hands and urge others to do the same while hoping and probably praying for another right-wing takeover in 2012, tens of millions of Americans will be mobilizing themselves, their families and their friends to create an insurgent movement inside the Democratic Party. That is the political challenge facing America today - the transformation and renewal of our nation's only progressive political party into a movement for the 21st century. Hedges is dead right about one thing, though: he and Nader are "useful idiots" for the Republicans from George W. Bush to Mitt Romney/Michele Bachmann.

Ron Paul would restrict school integration. Paul's appeal to the black vote is very close to zero. Guns cannot secure rights for minorities. The insurgents in the Warsaw Ghetto were armed with pistols and rifles and even some automatic weapons, but they were crushed by superior Nazi firepower. It is scarcely believable that anyone would argue your position in 2011. The state can overpower any puny gun-toting individual or minority like the Branch Davidians or Bonnie and Clyde with extravagant ease. Your vision of gun power is nothing less than a fantasy.

If you were asking me, I would place you in the center of the political spectrum - along with myself. Whether the employees of the abortion clinic should own guns or have armed security, it is clear that they are under constant threat from the pro-life right-wing gun-nuts. In a free and open society, states do not have rights, people do. In a closed society like the Third Reich, the state assumes totalitarian powers as if they were rights. We should all be enemies of the state. States only exist in order to mete out justice - they have no other useful purpose. When they fail to do that, they must be opposed.

Paul's opposition to Roe v. Wade and abortion rights is well known. Here is a quote from the site linked in your reply: “I am strongly pro-life. I think one of the most disastrous rulings of this century was Roe versus Wade. I do believe in the slippery slope theory. I believe that if people are careless and casual about life at the beginning of life, we will be careless and casual about life at the end. Abortion leads to euthanasia. I believe that.” Paul is firmly on the record of opposing women's rights to abortion, removing their right to determine when they give birth. Dangerously totalitarian - totally unacceptable to advocates of the free and open society.

So, you are saying that pro-choice is pro-war? Pro-Life is totalitarian to the ne plus ultra maximum - a policy that denies women the right to choose when they will give birth - male chauvinist tyranny at its most visceral. While the readers of antiwar.com are antiwar, they do not have to support pro-life policies of the Pope and his faithful followers.
You have made my case: Ron Paul appeals to right-wing nut-jobs who promote a radical and anarchic society ruled by the guns of private citizens as well as a huge totalitarian bureaucracy to violate women's rights to choose when they give birth - plus, opponents of civil rights for racial, sexual and ethnic minorities. If Paul was on 50 state ballots he would get less than 1% of the vote on that platform. Justin Raimondo would not support that platform - the reign of the gun would knock him off that bandwagon and if that one didn't the repeal of civil rights for minorities certainly would.
