BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : The First 10

Agreed. The past two nights have been pretty bad. I'll be back out there tonight, and just for good measure, I'm bringing 10 extra people with me. Between the bump in ticket prices from last year and the cold weekday evenings, attendance has been painfully sparse this week.

I'm mainly sad that I wasn't there to yell at Colin and Flint. Just remember, no matter how much we yell at them . . . they still make a lot more than we do.

Don't get your feelings hurt just because the Phillies aren't actually gods.

There are a couple pieces that their season hinges on....health of the pitching staff, how long is Utley out (I'm torn....he's on my fantasy team), where does the offense stand with the loss of a few key players.

I honestly don't know who the team to beat is in the division. I'm not nearly as high on the Braves chances as Kent, but I still think it'll be a good run.

The NL East is going to be fun to watch this year.......as long as the Braves can figure out how to beat the Nats as has been a problem at times.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : The Braves Roster Is Complete....And It's Good!

So I debated on this one a little while between whether or not the Braves lineup was "good" or if the Braves lineup "doesn't suck". I've come to the conclusion that it's somewhere in between. My biggest concern with our team, as has seemed to be the case in the past couple of years, is durability. There are a couple of big factors that will determine if this squad can hang down the stretch. Can Chipper stay healthy for most of the year and play 130-140 games? He says he can, but I doubt it. It's happened once since 2003. This team is a different animal when he's in the lineup. Can Heyward stay healthy for the season? He's already been dogged by some back issues in the preseason, but hopefully the hand issues from last year are forgotten. Can McLouth get his head out of his ass? He did in preseason and it's a contract year......but we'll see what happens. Can Freeman produce at a Major League level? There's no reason to think otherwise given his past performance in the minors, but only time will tell. These are some of the questions I dwell on when trying to figure out how far this team can go this year. I'm more than happy to debate any or all of these with anyone.

BravesBlast.com :: Atlanta Braves Blog : Who Wins The 5th Spot?

Not sure I see anywhere in the article that is using a win/loss record as an argument, aside from KK not being able to get a win to save his life. In fact, there's not much argument at all, moreso just a listing of stats from last season.

I agree that the offense doesn\\\'t really scare me too much. And as long as everyone stays healthy, I\\\'m okay with our starters (I think. We\\\'ll see how things go with Jurrjens tonight in his first big league start). As has been the case for the past couple of years, I\\\'m still concerned about the bullpen.

So the game time was 4:28 according to the big screen....

Anyways, in hindsight, this is definitely a game that we can attribute to losing via unearned runs. Either way though, it was a great home opener to be at. The energy in the stands during the ninth inning rally was pretty incredible.

Double play to end the Braves hopes in the 10th.

Boyer\\\'s on to pitch the 11th. We\\\'ve decided that Jurrjens is the next pitcher should we need more. Boyer is our last pen pitcher. Boyer made quick work of the Pirates in 11 however so he should be good for 1 more at least. 4:07 into the game so far.

Acosta\\\'s done. 3-run home run to Mclouth. Jeff Bennett\\\'s in to try to close out the inning. The Pirates lead 8-4. In the words of Rue, we\\\'re calling this a \\\"Should\\\'ve kept Buddy\\\" moment.
