Marty Robbins has a number of songs extolling the virtues of a "warm gun". The first one which popped to mind was Big Iron. I grew up on Robbins tunes as my father was a big fan. We were locked into whatever the music industry touted and provided in their distribution chains of radio and MTV. Today, youth can download music from anywhere on the globe. The delivery monopoly has been broken. With it, is the captive audience it had absolute control over 30 years ago; much like Conservative media. Long live the supergroup, the supergroup is dead.

Yeah, the term I've heard which best sums up this phenomenon is: Palin's Left Base. No matter what Sarah says or does, the Left gets apoplectic, comments on it in the media and continues to provide her more and more press. Oprah just did it with her "intelligence" comment, which Chris Matthews just elaborated on. It's a beautiful thing to behold.

Let's start slowly for now: Definition of "socialism" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist The U.S. Military is not a political or economic system nor is it a political philosophy. If anything, it's an interlocking series of bureaucratic autocracies. Each level of command is subordinate to and superior to every other echelon. Through over two centuries of warfare, some of the best minds in the world have decided this is the most effective system in the world. You confuse the public funding of the organization with how the organization functions. I did and do love the military, I was able to serve my country, offering up my life, if necessary, for its continuation. Something I think I can safely surmise never crossed your mind before you started belittling my service. I chose to become a "socialist" as you call it, for over twenty years, but now that I've retired, I am providing my perspective back into the public conversation, like it or not.
