I loved that too, as was perhaps obvious from my reaction. I just need to slow down!!

Drat; thanks for letting us know. I did flag this problem, per Marilyn's comment above. Will follow up and see what's going on. We've changed some things about our process and - evidently - we're running into more glitches than expected. Apologies.

I agree. Thinking about how you might design for that is certainly a head scratcher, but a fascinating issue.

Hi Derek, I think there are a few variants, but I think you're thinking of the one Ethan Zuckerman and I tried out. It's called RescueTime: https://www.rescuetime.com/

And yes, it is by turns enlightening and embarrassing.

Glad you liked it. I think we're actually just beginning to come to terms with the way our use of the Internet is changing tons of norms, from how we think about knowledge to how we understand ourselves.

Hey enkerli, great points. WRT the point about attention problems being a symptom of something else, I really find this to be true. I have the greatest problems with focus when I am 'freaked out' about a task, such as when I have to write something when I'm not totally sure what I want to say, or when I'm worried about how something I've written will be received. For me, using tricks is a way to get myself going, to break the paralysis of a block, since once you're in process it's generally much easier to keep going.

Yes, there was never any suggestion that Alan Turing was involved with networks. The Alan Turing reference was simply a nod to his role in the history of computer science.

Glad you liked it. I think idea of mindfulness and technology has a lot of 'heat' to it. I think we're going to start hearing more about it. Exciting that you're talking about it in an educational context!

I *knew* the broader Spark community would have great ideas!
