They look like UW kids. The kaffiyeh is pretty common on State St, sadly enough.

Big Government : Profiles in Cowardice: Part I, Wisconsin Edition

My own experience at the last company I worked for: Employee pays half of health insurance, in my case it was ~$270 per month. The company matched half of the 401(K) contribution, up to 3% of the employee's salary, and not vested until 5 years of employment. It's a compant of 4500, and I'd be surprised if 200 have been there 5 years, but that's another story (for more details, read the reviews at www.glassdoor.com and see Epic Systems Corporation).

The "high-speed" train from Madison to Milwaukee/Chicago would go 60 mph. I 90/94 is 65 mph. Walker rejected it, but I wish Obama could do simple math. Save everyone a lot of time and trouble.

Big Government : Wisconsin Senate Democrats Hiding at Resort in Illinois: Local Tea Parties Mobilizing UPDATE: Dems F

It's half the cost of their pension, and 12% of their health insurance. At my job (recently laid off), I had to pay over half my health insurance, and 66% of my 401(K)--company matched 50% of employee contributions, up to 3% of the employee's salary. Guess we should've unionized.

I'd be willing to fill in as a temp. I'll even change my affiliation to Democrat so we can get the legislative ball rolling. It would lend the coveted Bipartisan tag to the bill, too. :)

Big Hollywood : The Bankrupt Nihilism of Our Fallen Fantasists

I agree with you on Faith of the Fallen. I had the whole run of the series--I recently sold all of them except Faith and the conclusion trilogy. People have a love/hate relationship with Goodkind. He's got more than enough nudity, sex, rape and bdsm--some books are more rife with it than others. There's also some internal inconsistency with his characters--the ends justify the means for both the villains and the heroes, and often it's the same means for similar ends. IE., Kill everyone who disagrees with you and you'll have world peace. The series does have all the trappings of the great fantasy of yore.

I agree. It's got heroes who are noble, mosters who are vile, people who pretend to be evil but are really more good than they'd dare admit. There's a character for every fantasy fan, and an even chance that the character will die. It's really good, but Martin has writer's block something fierce. The fifth book in the series has been "forthcoming" for years now: http://isadancewithdragonsoutyet.com/

Big Journalism : BREAKING: Youtube Threatens To Take Down Live Action's Planned Parenthood Video Investigation

Did you try it? With Bing and yahoo, "Planned parenthood fraud" shows up as a suggestion as soon as you get to the A in fraud. In google, you can type the whole phrase and fraud will never show up as a suggestion. When I checked this morning, on Bing fraud was the 5th suggestion with "planned parenthood fra", with Yahoo it was the seventh. Furthermore, with allegations that Bing just runs a google query behind the scenes (saw a headline about it yesterday), and Bing all but confirming it--fraud's presence on Bing and absence on google is telling.

It's not a dearth of articles--Google shows 380,000 results. There are only 40,000 more hits for "andrew breitbart". To me, it definitely looks like google is purposely hiding the search. They were heavy contributors to Obama's campaign, IIRC.

As far as PP getting their cut, consider this: PP offers contraception free of charge, but gets paid for every abortion provided. It's in their best interests to support the sex trade. Their business model depends on it.

Try this: In Google, type "Planned parenthood fraud" one letter at a time and watch the search suggestions and live display of search results. Once you get to the U in fraud, you'll see no suggestions and no results. Once you hit enter, after typing the D, you'll see aroudn 382,000 results. Try the same thing in Bing. And in yahoo.

The thing about despots is that if you kill one, there's always another one to take his place. Say you kill Hitler. Then Goebbels decides to take power. You off Goebbels. Himmler steps in to fill the vacuum. You disappear Himmler, and there's someone else. By this point, you may as well just kill everyone. And, while you're at it, why not invade Poland too? --terry pratchett, maybe? definitely paraphrased.

I'm watching Inferno: The Making of The Expendables on Netflix right now (goes away from streaming on 2/1, so catch it while it's there).
We did it 50 years ago, but can we do it now? I've got a newspaper clipping with a picture of my grandfather, all 5'5" of him, with his finger in some Russian's face, all 6'3" of him, and the Russian is visibly backing down. It was taken over 50 years ago, shortly after WW2. Nowadays, my grandfather can't even mow his own yard with a lawn tractor. America needs to be Jack Lalane, and not the target market for Cialis.
