4 goals from 2 strikers is just ridiculous - Piq in particular has played enough games to improve on that.

That statistic alone is proof enough to me that neither of hem are good enough... at this level, for a club like West Ham, we need strikers that will get 10-15 minimum over the season....

Personally I couldn't be happier with the way things are going this season. the main thing is automatic promotion, so if the table is the same at the end of the season then I'll be very, very happy. However, as we are playing at the moment, there is no reason why we shouldn't get some silverware for the dusty display cabinet and go up as Champions!

I think SJ is right - we do have a squad, with a couple of additions, that can hold their own in the PL.

The problem last year was the Manager, plain and simple... clueless tactics, square pegs round holes, players out of position, constantly changing formations, starting 11... blah blah blah. Yes the 11 men on the pitch have to take account of themselves, but with no direction or moral it is no wonder they under perform.

The other thing that I personally think has made a difference this year is that our owners have kept themselves VERY quiet. They have allowed Sam to get on with the football side of things and left him and the players alone. Maybe this is because they have more faith in him than Avram, but whatever the reason it has definitely helped the players and coaching staff just get on with their job without worrying about what crap is going to be on the back page of the sun in the morning!

Really looking forward to the weekend and what I hope will be a repeat of Tuesdays game but with 3 goals to us this time! 3-0...

It's nice to hear the thoughts of someone at the game - very hard to gauge the overall performance listening to bloody Audio!

I have to say from what I heard i would agree - if one or two of the early chances had gone in instead of hitting the post etc. then it would have been a very different game.

Anyway it's not the end of the world - we are still 2nd and Hull is now a big game COYI

No offence taken Jonny - to make it clear I definitely do feel for the fans that were there and I for one would be well pissed off if that's what was served up.

My point is more about the overall season - surely we all knew that these games were going to happen, especially in the first 10-15 games of the season, so we can't complain too much about being fourth in the league after 8 games surely?

Sam tried something on Tuesday night and it didn't work - but I have no doubt he will learn from that experience and we will improve as the games go on.

Personally I think we will have a much better second half of the season, once the player have gelled, so if we are still in fourth come Christmas I reckon we have a great chance of automatic promotion - at the moment we are on course so we should be happy with that IMHO.

I didn't see the game last night so can only go by the radio link - and I admit we sounded pretty awful.

The thing that makes me laugh is that you have people on here saying Sam is a failure and the players have no will to win etc. when we are only 8 games into the season.

A season I would like to add that see's us sitting in 4th place despite the fact, it is plain to see, the team still needs time to Gel and Sam still needs to time to work out what works best for him with the players available.

We had something like 18 players leave and 12 come in over the summer... I doubt there's a team in the top two flights that have experienced such a huge overhaul.

Yes last night’s result was disappointing, but get real people – if someone had said, before the season kicked off, that we’ll be in 4th place after 8 games we would have all jumped at it.

A win at the weekend could take us up into the top 2 – so stop moaning and get behind the team. We lost... let’s move on and hope for a better performance on Saturday. COYI
