Antiwar.com Original Articles : What Now?

"Because we don’t have a lot of time. Of course, no one can know the future: we cannot know when the terminal crisis of American imperialism will be visited upon our heads. We do know, however, what is causing it – and that it is coming. Economic collapse, a major war in the Middle East, a crackdown on the home front that will make the social tumult of the Sixties look like a Sunday school picnic: we can’t know what will set off such a chain of events, nor in what order they will occur. What we do know, however, is that we must work to prevent it from happening – assuming, of course, that it isn’t already too late" Just as Regean and his crew wasted our tax money refurbishing obsolete battle ships to near bankrupt the treasure so that voters and citizens would curtail the welfare state out of existence for fear of bankrupting the country............... I take the opposite tack and relish the welfare state as a means of keeping resources too few for popular support of the waste of fighting far off wars for corporations and other marauding states, special interests and our own military industrial complex, the one honest Ike Eisenhower forebodingly warned us about..... And far more radically. I celebrate the coming collapse of our fiat script and the disordering of our priorities all the "free" fiat money encourages.... Once the hidden taxes of inflation and monetization are busted and dragged off in irons, and the the costly phony wars become pay as we go realities..... most of the Hoo Rah will be replaced with how much and who will pay..... It's the day I look forward to arriving! Unlike the never ending wars providing the never ending excuses to rob us blind..........

News From Antiwar.com : US Still Can't Find Missing Libyan Missiles

HHHMMMMMmmmmm,..... One more correction of sorts............. "start being used against aircraft in the area." [In the Area...???] Why not in Syria, France, Afghanistan , N. Korea or California, places much more likely for them to re-surface....??? Who's got them....?? Is it Al Quaeda who seems to be the U.S./NATO sweetheart once again...?? If those missiles are out of the box of U.S./NATO supervision, then our projections of their re-appearances should be too. Using them in N.Africa would only cause problems for their new owners ..[Where they live..!!] Much more plausible deniability in Syria, Indonesia or Kabul.. And also the farther away they do turn up, the larger and more abstruse the area which would be examined, lessening the chances that the providers would be found....... I believe farther away is more likely than nearer.............. Do the same people with the SA-24s also have Kadaffi's gold too..?? Or is this all the CIA adding fear and uncertainty into the equation to assist their funding..??

Antiwar Radio with Scott Horton and Charles Goyette : Muhammad Sahimi

Everybody has a bad day or two.... Everybody is apt to utter some inanity in these times when the inmates have taken over the asylum....... Todays E.G. Elie Wiesel..... Great humanitarian, right..?? WRONG, just another corrupt opportunists..!! There is a website with his quotes.... http://www.goodreads.com/author/quotes/1049.Elie_... Here is the one at the top of the list,,!! “The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference." This quote seems harmless enough, but when one looks into Mr. Wiesel's actual actions it becomes very clear he is using a double standard. Here is another of his quotes: “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.” Did Wiesel protest the war built on lies and forgeries..?? I don't recall him protesting..... And then there is this: "Fortunately, however, Bob Woodward did mention Wiesel's appearance at the White House in his 2004 book, Plan of Attack. Ironically, Woodward was writing at a point in time when the invasion was supposedly going well. Thus, his intent in mentioning Wiesel's dramatic performance at the White House was not to criticize the man, but rather to praise him while also offering an honest portrayal of the man's immense power. In doing so, Woodward made it clear that this "war of choice" was as much about Israel as it was about oil. Woodward stressed that Bush had been wavering about his decision to unleash the dogs of war until he received Wiesel's blessing. Wiesel had told him that Iraq was a "terrorist state and that the moral imperative was for intervention." Israel's security was supposedly at stake. He asked: "In the name of morality, how can we not intervene?" (320) Woodward concludes: "In the days after, Bush routinely repeated Wiesel's comments." He leaves it to us to fill in the winks and nods that must have gone with that statement, for what Bush was saying in effect was that by launching a proxy war for Israel he was averting another "Holocaust." Colin Powell, apparently referring to our High Priest's influence on Bush, later stated sardonically that the President had relied on "divine guidance" in deciding to go to war, as if the mendacious Wiesel were some kind of a holy man! (Above 3 paragraphs by By Prof. David O'Connell 5-22-9) And there is this: Peace isn't possible in evil's face Rational people must intervene against the likes of Hussein By Elie Wiesel The Los Angeles Times March 11, 2003 Under normal circumstances, I might have joined those peace marchers who, here and abroad, staged public demonstrations against an invasion of Iraq. After all, I have seen enough of the brutality, the ugliness, of war to oppose it heart and soul. Isn't war forever cruel, the ultimate form of violence? It inevitably generates not only loss of innocence but endless sorrow and mourning. How could one not reject it as an option? And yet, this time I support President Bush's policy of intervention to eradicate international terrorism, which, most civilized nations agree, is the greatest threat facing us today. Bush has placed the Iraqi war into that context; Saddam Hussein is the ruthless leader of a rogue state to be disarmed by whatever means is necessary if he does not comply fully with the United Nations' mandates to disarm. If we fail to do this, we expose ourselves to terrifying consequences. I certainly didn't begin writing this comment to dump in Wiesel, only to show how the death passion moves people, even the "Saints" of (supposed) moral pillars of our modern moral structure.... LOOK AT WHAT THEY DO............... Wiesel can't claim ignorance..... He is in fact trying to revise history...!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgqblHpjors Just one more abused becoming the abuser.........

Independent...... Thank you for the ** http://www.oilempire.us ** website...... Certainly helpful in drawing distinctions like... "Most projections of future carbon levels ignore the fact that fossil fuels are peaking in extraction rates. Focusing solely on climate change ignores the most important question facing humanity -- whether to "spend" the remaining oil on solar panels or battleships (a simplified version of the choice" "Framing the energy crisis as a decision about how to use the remaining oil can shift the debate toward more productive discussions: solar panels or battleships, relocalizing production or globalization, high speed trains or NAFTA Superhighways, boosting local businesses or subsidizing Wal-Mart big boxes. Each of these decisions is a choice whether to address the end of cheap oil and the start of climate change through accelerated business as usual or whether we will shift toward more sustainable behaviors. Unfortunately, these decisions are made by small elites that became wealthy and powerful through the destructive practices, and shifting course would be an admission that they screwed up." Found the site ** http://www.oilempire.us ** I found the maps here: http://www.oilempire.us/new-map.html Thank You very much Independent...!!

All history is propaganda............... Occupations...??? "friends helping friends"... The good news is that in primitive places like Afghanistan, their oral history will always trump the foreign occupiers written whitewash calling itself THEIR history........ Because Afghans at both ends of the political spectrum will know better, both educated and peasant Afghans will know what REALLY happened to them...... and there is NO real middle class to lap up the lies ......... Oh well HA.... Ha...ha.. They are trying to hide the obvious, that Afghans don't suffer occupations kindly........... Especially infidels sticking their hands down the woman's birka...... How will this all end...?? What will be the fate of these books when the occupiers depart......??? Most likely they will warm their hearts as fuel for the fire in winter........ The Imans will be the historians for the masses, not NATO...!!! It's just more wasted money (and lives too) in pursuit of Neocon delusions of grandeur and global conquest..........More lies from our unequivocal masters,,,,,,,,,,

""killing people at a rescue site may have no legal justification"". How about killing people in Pakistan "may have no legal justification"". **************** ALSO to be CONSIDERED ********************* The talk of "Hearts and Minds" comes from the operational sector... But they don't control POLICY.... The "policy shop" is throughly imbued with Neocons and their camp followers... These Neocon policy wonks DON'T want to tamp down attacks on or hate for America and NATO. No, their goal is to inflame and destabilize... to make it WORSE, thereby creating more strife in Pakistan and draw it into a wider, more divisive confrontation with the invaders..... One reason is the "Islamic Bomb".... In their fever dreams, the Neocons make off with Pakistan's bombs... and de-fang "Islam"............ Neocon marshal dreams have few borders in ordinary reality, just as the state they seek to benefit has almost no borders.... When a small population in a mini state seeks to confront a vast population on a vast territory, there are "existential" considerations.. Not that anyone would know such thoughts ever occur...
