An excellent point indeed, Ryan. There are enormous numbers of capital projects sitting on shelves around this nation awaiting certainty in the business climate, and many of us in the engineering and construction community are anxiously awaiting its release on or about November 3.

My thoughts on this post have little to do with Christine O'Donnell and much to do with Karl Rove. As I"ve said to you before, perhaps privately, Rove is seen as the "architect" of the Bush presidency, and thus as the "architect" of much that placed the Democratic Party in such powerful positions while destroying the Republican Party. The Tea Party is redefining the Republican Party in an image far from Rove's legacy. He needs to sit this election cycle out.

This post reminded me of a conversation I had recently with Walter Abbot of Lincoln Parish News Online, wherein he said that he doesn't accept any advertising so as to preclude such accusations. It gave me pause to think.

I don't write to please advertisers, political or otherwise. I write to inform and to analyze what I learn as an avowed "news junkie." I trust that advertisers who like what I say, or who believe readers who like what I say will like what they''re selling, too, will follow those readers to this site. But the ads are an effect, not a cause, of what I write.

Has it occured to you that the trends shown by the data cited are indeed the direction Obama thinks the country should be moving? Unemployed masses dependent on a massive government are consistent with his vision.

Thankfully most of us don't share that vision.
