Stone's son says his new Islamic faith does not mean abandoning Christianity or Judaism: http://news.yahoo.com/oliver-stones-son-converts-... I wonder if the newly minted Ali Stone will find Shia Islam so tolerant and accommodating should he decide to convert to Buddhism, Shinto, or whatever trendy faith strikes his fancy next year.

Big Hollywood : Whitney Houston Dead at 48, Cause Not Yet Known

I saw those pictures of her taken last Thursday; Whitney looked like a mess. No one who paid any attention should be surprised at this news, which is the saddest part of it.

Big Hollywood : Samuel L. Jackson: 'I Voted for Barack Because He Was Black'; His Message Didn't Mean $%*@ To Me

Samuel L. Jackson just reminded me why I should stop complaining so much about how I don't really care for any of the four remaining GOP candidates for POTUS, but I have to vote for one of them in November because 0bama is worse. I don't like voting for the lesser of two evils, but that is preferable to picking a candidate based on race.

Even the uber-progressive website G*wker is acknowledging Big Hollywood these days, most recently when G*wker got their knickers in a bunch over Crowder and Chris Loesch's musical debut at CPAC.

The trolls must also mention that Ayn Rand began accepting Medicare after being diagnosed with lung cancer, right before underscoring their point that Rand was a hypocrite because when she was given the choice of whether to enroll in Medicare, she voluntarily declined. What's that? She wasn't given a choice in whether to contribute to government health care programs, and those programs took money she earned without her consent her entire working life in the US? Therefore, she was only re-claiming a bit of what the government took from her? Funny how the progressive trolls leave that out...

I can't get over how funny it is that OWS claims to represent 99% of the population, yet every time someone actually from OWS physically assaults police, crashes an SUV in to a building, hurls a smokebomb over the White House fence, rapes a woman, stabs someone, overdoses on heroin, is infected with scabies, or rants about the Joooooos controlling the media, that person is not affilated with OWS and they don't know him. 99% or .05% of .003%? Can't have it both ways.

I'd like to think Oprah's support of 0bama is hurting her financially, and it is certainly possible. But a simpler explanation might be that "Oprah" is a content-free, poorly edited mess of navel-gazing psycho-babble. That pablum sold well on Oprah's TV show, but it may not work so well in print form.

Big Hollywood : Hollywood Cheers Prop 8 Ruling Via Twitter

"Personally I could care less if gay people want to marry." I agree with you. But I also believe that the courts, and the federal government, should stay out of the issue of defining marriage. Leave that question to the voters of each state, and recognition of gay marriage to each religious group within states that choose to recognize gay marriage. My disagreement with the Ninth Court is not about the issue of gay marriage; I would have voted against Prop. 8 if I lived in California. Since the voters chose to define marriage as being between one man and one woman, I would have accepted the will of the people on this issue. My disagreement is with the usurpation of the Tenth Amendment by the Ninth Court, and the negation of the right of the voters to decide such issues as the definition of marriage for themselves. I see no harm in gay marriage, but that is not the issue. The issue is the progressive tactic of ignoring the Tenth Amendment, and the principle of democracy to which they pay lip-service.

"Seth MacFarlane: Every civil rights battle is eventually won by the oppressed party." You mean like the rights of black Christians and Latino Catholics, who voted against a re-definition of marriage by a significant margin, only to see their will, and that of the voters in general, overturned in favor of the opinion of wealthy white elitists like McFarlane? I would have opposed Prop 8, but I also would have accepted the will of the voters in favor of it. Once again, the left attempts to win by judicial over-reach what it can't win at the ballot box.

Big Government : The Real Story on Workforce Numbers: No Change?

Even if one ignores out the adjusted employment numbers cited above, the official unemployment rate is still 8.3% more than two years after 0bama promised us the stimulus would keep it below 8%. Anyone who doubts the power of the MSM to control the narrative need only look at all the stories last week that hailed the news of a drop in the unemployment rate to 8.3% as a glorious victory for Soetoro, and likely to cement his re-election. More than a few conservatives, or at least non-progressives, shared this ridiculous spin. Think about it: the president lies about how well his stimulus bill would work, wastes almost $800 billion on it, and most people accept the idea that a drop to "only" 8.3% is good news for that president, and proof that his policies are working? Unbelievable.

Big Government : Court: CA Same-Sex Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

"In the eyes of government, marriage is just a legal contract for joint tenancy issues and for tax purposes. For nearly every religion, it has more significance than just a legal contract." Exactly. Civil unions are legal contracts between two consenting parties, and the state has no right to interfere with them in any way. Marriage carries more meaning than a mere legal contract, and it should be up to religious institutions and the voters in each state, not the federal government and certainly not the judiciary, to decide on the proper definition of marriage.

I personally would vote in favor of same-sex marriage, and I think this ruling overturning Prop 8 is a serious case of judicial over-reach. Civil unions are a contract between two consenting adults, and I see no justification for interfering with those. Marriage carries cultural meaning not found in a civil union/legal contract, and so I believe the definition of marriage should be left to the voters of individual states to decide. In states where the voters (not the courts) decide to recognize gay marriage, it should be up to individual religious denominations whether to recognize and perform gay marriages. In other words, if I were a California resident I would have voted against Prop 8, but would have accepted the will of the majority. Quite frankly, I think we have bigger things to worry about (Islamo-fascism, trillions in federal debt, etc.) than what two consenting adults do amongst themselves. But, what the appeals court ruling today shows once again is how progressives use the courts to usurp and ignore the will of the people…and the left are the ones who are so shrill about “democracy”.
