Here's the conundrum:

We (especially the Internet generation) actually ask and get asked this question ALL THE TIME.

The real issue is learning HOW to do "what we want" successfully. Stress the word "successfully." The problem that stymies most of us is the lack of a clear path, and the "hard" truth that success takes work, and even then it isn't always assured. People fear pain, and many of us see pain as the downside of forging a new path.

It's only when we stop fearing failure that we can really move forward, try, fail, and try again.

(It's not a question of "can or can't afford," "Mr. Reality": if we get to the point where everyone is being successfully creative, we'll find new ways to get the garbage picked up and the shoes made. In fact, we're already working on it. THAT'S the reality.)

I won't click Celtic's link (because it's disguised and could be malware - save link-shortening for Twitter) but I'll say that the missing breakfast link (pun intended) that will help you lose weight is eating protein instead of carbs.

While even "whole grain" carbs will burn off before lunch, causing you to "crash," protein is assimilated more slowly, helping you feel full longer and preventing blood sugar spikes. Eggs (or egg whites if you really want to avoid cholesterol), lean ham, chicken or grass-fed beef will do the job. Add fiber- and nutrient-bearing veggies and legumes for a TRUE "complete" breakfast.

Steak and eggs, spinach omelette, or huevos rancheros (salsa is healthy!) are all great breakfasts that set you up for a day of fat loss.

Gilt invite! Me! Me!

Sorry, a little overexcited there. Thanks for reminding me to hit up the A&N store.

And my addition: if you have a Nordstrom "Rack" store in your town, it's a place to get incredible deals on shoes, and other items that (IMO) were a bit too "edgy" for the mainstream Nordstrom customer.

Interesting stuff. The topic of "finding your passion" is always a good one to address, because everyone has a different idea on how to approach it (meaning: there's not one "right" way). I've been taking it on as part of my Ultimate Spring Cleaning series. The part that doesn't change, though, is that it takes some serious and concentrated self-reflection.

The only real question is, once everyone on Earth finds their passion, who's left to clean the bathrooms?

Thanks for the brain food.

Great story. Crossfit is an awesome workout, and many police and military participate in a Crossfit workout program (photos of active soldiers working out with makeshift benches and pullup bars are often particularly inspiring). They regularly honor fallen heroes by naming workouts after them. Good to see local gyms carrying on these traditions.

It may be just me, but this seems more like a list of pet peeves than dealbreakers. Okay, if there was a pattern that involved all of these things together, sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if the guy might even be relieved by her ending it. (Example: If he's going out with the guys every weekend night, he's just not that into you.)

And are there really women out there who expect their guys to be on call for check-ins 24/7? If my girlfriend knows I'm out with the guys or otherwise occupied, it's understood that I should only be interrupted for something important. I extend her the same courtesy when she's busy. A text is a good way to "just check" on something - and even then, an instant answer shouldn't be expected.
