I started the salmon oil and other oils maybe three years ago (time flies!), and I saw a real difference in skin and coat. Tashi is still very active in play and bouncy during his walks - I may be hiding under the bed before he does ;-D

Tashi is a bit of weird dog - he doesn't bark at the doorbell or other usual suspects unless I ask him to - I had nothing to do with it, he came that way as a puppy - but he too will do almost anything for cookies!

Hey Jenny and Pixel - first timer newbies! It is fun, isn't it? I write quite a bit about issues and I think my readers get more than enough of that from me, so it's fun to show them what others are talking about. I'll be happy to check out what you wrote for Be The Change - the honor's mine=) Nice to meet you and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

I could have turned this post into a 1000 word marathon because I had seen so many posts that would have been fun to include. I definitely broke my own new rule of keeping it 300 words or less but it was worth it to be able to point people to places where they might pick up something they didn't know. Hey, four a year would be great wouldn't it? Sigh!

I agree, Kim! It was really very interesting to read all the different things happening from place to place, and which groups are doing what about it. Leo's post really shocked me - dogs being labeled as dangerous and possibly put to death because they jumped up on someone?? What a completely mad world we live in.

Dancing Dog Blog : Dog Treats Surprise

I like to save the ice cube treats for summer, but I know many dogs love to crunch ice cubes no matter what time of year! And this is a quick solution when people are sick so thanks! There is another company that has a line of flavors to mix in water and put in their bone shaped trays - I just talked to Carol Bryant about it and we'll be having a YouTube review on it this month at AnimalCafe.co.

Dancing Dog Blog : Dog Breeding - How To Spot a Good Breeder

I like to inform people of their options. Just as not all breeds need CERF testing, some people don't know that is something they should look for if they are looking at certain breeds. I like what you said about people not needing the best of breed. Many just fall in love with the "look" of a dog and don't realize the amount of exercise and training they must have. I loved my galumphing bird dog Dickens - Eng Springer Spaniel - his legs were longer than the breed guidelilnes, so the breeder got him fixed and sent him of to be a pet. Dickens was great at obedience, although get a gaggle of geese in the lake and all that disappeared! I had to tell him he was not supposed to go for the live birds...he was funny and wonderful. Thanks for adding to the conversation, Thomas.

Yes, breed rescues are always very helpful...and so few people actually need a stellar example of a purebred working dog when they just like the look and the attitude/activity level is a good fit with the family.

I'm in that second category of loving the different breeds and the work they are raised for, and I also think it's tough on the public to discern the difference between good and bad - let's face it, with 80% not knowing puppies in pet shops come from puppy mills we've got another uphill educational battle to wage. Thanks for sharing, Edie:)
