Marvia's Panama Journal : 20th Anniversary Of World Aids Day: Debunking HIV Myths

Spinster, Thank you for visiting and for sharing a comment. I hope more of my colleagues will join the efforts at prevention rather than distance themselves. This might be where realism and pragmatism desert me, but I continue to hope they'll come around :-) Peace!

Marvia's Panama Journal : Russian Warship Transits Panama Canal: A First View At Gatun

Dave you mek mi laff, Real Jamaican suspicion that. A dear friend of mine would respond thus...show me a friendly war ship and I'll show you a vegetarian wolf! Come on! The people say they are on a friendly visit:-) Ok they actually went to do some joint military training or some such with Venezuela and thought they'd sail by and say hello the the Panamanians while giving the crew some rest and stocking upon supplies. So there you go - a 'perfectly innocent' trip. But on the other hand they do wish to remind the region that they are still good trading partners and let USA know that they are not the only 'big guns' around. Or something to that effect.

Hello Bro, You are right of course. There is a nuclear vessel called Peter the Great lurking about somewhere in a top secret location. And who knows what else is around. So far the 'friendliness' of the visit in these parts is causing quite a buzz. Latin America has been under US influence for a long time, but communism/socialism is far from dead in the impulses of the people. So that makes Russia's friendly visit set off alarm bells big time:-) Peace!

Joyce, You are right in the correction in saying 'our' pecans. Clearly these are 'our' coconuts. Now you have me wondering if there is more than one of them. Anyway, the lesson is that we all need to survive! Good to 'see' you as always!

Kate, Thank you for visiting, and for sharing your thoughts. Never mind the 3 comments; I can go on myself:-) You are right, If we are so comfortable as to forget the realities of the world around us, then I don't believe we are serving our purpose. And what you mentioned that you do while at worship, I still do that sometimes. We have to keep checking up on ourselves to ensure that we don't lost sight of what it means to be the church fulfilling our mission in and for the the world. Sadly enough, there are many who would not agree with us, they are more focused on numerical growth --- becoming bloated and giving back nothing to their communities! Thanks for introducing our readers and I to Clienttrack. I've visited the site and am going back to take a deeper look. My best wishes to you in your work. And I look forward to your next visit and more of your thoughts. Marvia

Gillian, You would have loved to see it live:-) Well after the 'exercise' and we took the bunches of coconut down it was my jaws that got the work out from the hard coconut meat. LOL. Brain is yet to kick back in gear (if it ever was)...heehehehe... And the moral of the story is....No nut is too hard to crack! I've been applying that bit of wisdom to my still bothersome paper. Blessings!

Thanks for visiting Barry,
You get a real sense of how things really are when 'fears' surround the possible election of a candidate as President of a nation. Some dismiss the fears saying its pure negative thinking. While others say its the reality of race relations in America that has been dogging this campaign but which causes people's emotional gauges to pop, so the discussions are avoided.

Ole time people in Jamaica would say, 'stop begging for trouble' or 'noh call down bad luck' on the situation. I agree with those sentiments. However, I'm at the same time very interested in what drives those sentiments. Why should people think such a thing in the first place? And if people live in a place where they think this is possible...then what are we dealing with. Crazy racial paranoia or something more culturally sinister?
