Los Havros : The Comprehensive PS3 Fan Guide

I'd get in contact with Sony directly, and tell them what the problem is. But it all does really depend on your circumstances: what exactly 'is' the problem? And are you within or outside of your warranty? If you're within your warranty, you should go to the store where you bought your console from. Hope this helps!

Yea, I suppose you could say it was a whole host of problems that when combined, wrecked the experience for me. My bad though, for the misleading post title!

I've played plenty of other games that have thrown down the gauntlet and offered me a worthy challenge, but none have ever felt so blatantly unfair as Fallout 3. It felt like things would pretty much go the same way if I had to fend for survival myself in a post-apocalyptic future for real. For example, I killed a bad-ass mercenary early on in the bar in Megaton, everyone else started shooting at me, I died, and the game auto-saved, putting me back in the bar just as the guys started shooting me. That was game save number one wrecked. Three game saves later and I've gone for the guidebook as I've been getting nowhere. That brief story is just the tip of the iceberg for the grief that Fallout 3 has given me!

Los Havros : 3D Gaming Revolution

Great post on the new and technical world of 3D gaming! I just have a few thoughts: 3D TV and 3D gaming are definitely here, but is anyone listening? Those of us who have plumped for a brand-new HD Ready TV are hardly going to splash out for the latest and greatest that just so happens to do 3D as well. I suppose I'm really wondering, is there any demand? I could go on for an entire post about my thoughts on this. In fact, I think I will. at some point Any objections to me carrying on the 3D debate on your blog at a later date? Everyone else, chime in! Have you seen Avatar in 3D? Are you excited about the prospect of 3D gaming?

Los Havros : Watching Sky in other rooms for free (guide)

I\\\'m not 100% sure about this, as I don\\\'t have a Sky+ HD box. Worst-case scenario is that the Sky+ HD box includes extra copyright protection and forces everything to be viewed through a HDMI connection, whereas the best-case scenario is that the non-HD channels can still be viewed using the RF Out. I hope that the latter is true. If anyone has a Sky+ HD box, can you confirm this either way? Many thanks.

Los Havros : Is 2009 a Vintage Year For Games?

I hear you about Arkham Asylum- I realised that once you\\\'ve played through it once, it\\\'s enough really. All\\\'s I need to do is replay \\\'the story\\\' on hard and do some of the challenge rooms etc, but I don\\\'t feel motivated to do this! So, you\\\'re absolutely right: great game, but shame about the re-playability of the title. Regarding Uncharted 2, ahem. How could an Uncharted mega-fan forget his favourite game? Well... it was the second paragraph under the Batman heading but I had forgotten to write the Uncharted 2 heading! D\\\'oh! I\\\'d like to mention that unlike Batman, Uncharted 2 (and the original, now I think of it) has tons of replay value. I\\\'m currently on my 3rd play-through on Crushing.

Same here really. I've gone past the stage of opening up a PC, tinkering about with it and spending days either configuring components or reinstalling Windows for the umpteenth time. I just want a simpler, more productive life! My Mac will become my main computer, with my old Windows PC retained for compatibility testing (I don't want to go down the whole virtualisation route), and I still have my Windows laptop which I reckon can be wiped and given a new lease of life.

Point noted- it was most probably a hardware fault. But I didn't actually blame Windows itself. I was disappointed at the experience as a whole. Hardware and software form the complete experience. When one of those fails, it does ruin it for the consumer. I've not one of those disgruntled Windows users who has 'fled' to the Mac platform wholesale: I've just run Windows computers for long enough to realise that I fancy a change. I'm currently typing this reply on a WIndows XP PC that has run beautifully (more or less) for several years. Going forward, I'm going to keep active in both platforms but the Mac will simply be my primary computer for now.

Los Havros : Uncharted 2 Is Epic

That\\\'s what is great about video games. It\\\'s very subjective: same game, but different vastly different experiences. Don\\\'t get me wrong, Uncharted 2 is an excellent game- I just like to nitpick! I\\\'m playing through again on hard, so I\\\'ll update this post if I change my mind!

Los Havros : Watching Sky in other rooms for free (guide)

You can't get different Sky channels in different rooms without Sky Multiroom. This involves having an additional Sky box in each room at an extra £10 per month, per room. There's nothing stopping you watching different terrestrial channels (soon to be switched off) in different rooms, or different freeview channels in different rooms. My solution for Sky is a compromise without you having to pay the additional £10 each month per box, per room.

Los Havros : Talking Heads: Social Gaming- Is the PS3 Disconnected?

It's funny you should mention that. I've had no problems with Uncharted... until now. You're right, Uncharted and Firmware 3.00 do not like each other at all. I find it very annoying, and I hope either Sony or Naughty Dog get it fixed ASAP.

Speaking about investment, I'm practically the exact opposite! Now, I don't really have any incentive to get an Xbox 360 as I'll be starting at 0 when everyone else has 1000s of gamerscore points. Funnily enough, the Trophy system is amazingly deep. You level up like you would in an RPG, and different levels of Trohpies have different values. So, do you scoop up a load of bronze Trophies, or do you go for 100% completion to scoop the Platinum? As for sucess, it's the chicken and the egg really, isn't it? A platform will be sucessful if lots of people join it, but people don't want to join a platform if there's not many people on it and its unsucessful. Any platform needs early adopters to make it a sucess, but I believe we're past that stage and heading towards widespread adoption.

Firmware 3.0 has added plenty of things, but not anything like cross-game chat. Edit: And you absolutely, positively need to at least give Uncharted a try! It's pure gaming gold. Speaking of which... how's your playthrough of Uncharted going, Ash?
