The incident in Oakland was by far the worst to date; Two-tour Iraq war veteran Scott Olsen was shot in the head with a police projectile. This resulted in a critical injury. When Scott was down, protestors and street medics tried to get him to safety. An officer threw a flashbang bomb into the crowd, causing a delay in getting help to the downed protestor.

Scott is out of the coma hes was in for - I think - a day and a half, and has the ability to write, but not to speak. The doctors do not know how well he will recover in the long-term.

Scott's injury has drawn the most attention, but it is not an isolated incident.

Hopefully become less of an issue as time marches on. I know some very excellent divorced fathers who are solidly parents, and have no intention of leaving that position.

"Developing trust and fraternity with other men is part of my journey."

I couldn't agree more! Good on ya.

Thanks for your thoughts, Mark. Good stuff. I agree with a great bit of it. This part though;

"So a women reaches out for our hand, or touches our neck while driving. While we should: 1. draw a bath for you 2. give a massage(I give them, professional table too, and give them well, it's a VERY physically demanding skill to do it right) 3. A gift 4. A public display of affection ...stay with me, not done yet! 5. A surprise romantic celebration! Seems like a fair trade to me. Like I said, a ramble. "

I was writing about men, not about women.

If you want to write a counter point - and I think you should! - Waylon, the editor here at ele, would surely publish it.

Thanks for reading, and even more so, thanks for weighing in.

A starting point:

As I said above, "It’s time for men to claim their wounds, and in claiming them, start healing themselves into wholeness." We all have had, and have, this work to do.

The *crazier* thing then perhaps is that *men* "buy" it.

That said, you and I don't disagree about everything:

"If you trash-talk a boy's father, or even simply make misandrous comments about men in general (ie: Men are stupid, men are lazy, they let you down etc.) what do you think boys will start thinking? My mom hates my dad, or my mom hates men, I am a man, so she must hate me."

Absolutely. But, as I said above, "It’s time for men to claim their wounds, and in claiming them, start healing themselves into wholeness." We all have had, and have, this work to do. Women grew up hearing all kinds of hateful and vile stuff about women. But this isn't a pity party. I was writing about men, from a woman's perspective. Mine.

Thanks for your thoughts.
