patch.panel : The very first bug in Ubuntu... the most critical?

same here (and I think a lot others). It is 100% reproducable here in the Philippines! :p I have yet to see an iCafe with at least a single terminal with Ubuntu or any Linux distro "allowed" for public use :p

TinyVid : TinyVid Upload Video File

Thanks for the info! True though, the codec is still required to be able to play a different codec encoding even if it successfully gets loaded as/within the Ogg container.

A quick question, will the system recognize Ogg using the Matroska container? How about a Dirac format using the Ogg container? Or the upload is only for "Theora" specifically? Thank you!

Interactive Marketing Blog : Quick Poll: Disqus or Intense Debate?

Disqus for me :p But seriously, I hope the OpenComments Group can put up some sort of standard so competing services like Disqus and IntenseDebate can sync at least profile and comment-tracking wise. This way, an ID user can use his/her ID account to leave and track comments in a Disqus-enabled blog and vice versa. For us techies, it isn't a problem at all - we all love to have accounts everywhere ;) Like now, I have this ID account before Automattic acquired them ;) But I'm full support for Disqus. (Not to mention, almost all blogs I visit use Disqus.)

Deantastic Tech : From Windows to Linux: Part 1 - What's Linux and Why You Should Switch

WINE is actually "WINE Is Not an Emulator", you can check here: http://www.winehq.org/myths Anyway, have you tried Songbird for your "itunes" needs? I've tried it with my brother's iPod and so far no problems at all. Now as for Photoshop and GIMP, I can only suggest to approach GIMP without any knowledge of Photoshop. Forget about Photoshop, use GIMP as someone who haven't touched a single graphics editing software. I have a similar experience but with Office apps. I know Lotus Suite, I can say I have mastered it during it's days. When I started to work, the company is using Microsoft Office. I really hate MSOffice that time because I can't find my way around it and I can't do things I can do with Lotus Suite. That's when I figured out to drop all knowledge about Lotus Suite and use MSOffice as a newbie to Office suites. Then I figured it out and became comfortable with it (although I still favor the old Lotus Suite). I even championed Office 2007 a few years later hehe :p But eventually settled with OpenOffice. Third, about terminal-ish, as per my experience, I use the terminal far less when Hardy Heron was released. Now using Jaunty, so far I only opened my terminal to test something - usually to break my system ;) With that, again as per my experience with Jaunty, it will be even far less Terminal usage than before. And I'm using 64-bit and nvidia ;) One of the most problematic in the past releases. I have to compile and re-compile to 64-bit, make nvidia work, flash, and what not. But from Hardy onwards, it's less and less of those. Hmm.. let's see, come join us in the Philippine Jaunty release party, bring your laptop ^_^ there will be much more experienced and knowledgable individuals there than me ;) PS Thanks for using IntenseDebate, makes the commenters lives easier ;) [I highly favor Disqus tho :p ]

Bwana.org : Intense Debate or Disqus? I'm torn.

You need to update IMO ;) ID supports "taking back" the comments made via FriendFeed into your ID comment-flow. Disqus launched their full API (and continually building on it) so no more SEO worries for the API users, and if I'm not mistaken you can now import (even pre-Disqus posts) and export (if I remember correctly). But just like what another blogger said, we can only choose one. I did not go on my plan to add Disqus and ID in gameshogun even though it's possible. I chose Disqus, it's my first. I guess in this stiff competition of Disqus and ID, the factor of "first" comes into play. I touched Disqus first so I'll stick with it. However that doesn't mean I don't have an account in ID ;)

Luna Tail : Switching from Disqus to Intense Debate

If you know how to code or hack, you can just enable Disqus and Intense Debate together. Im sure you'll get more by having both, since there are loyal-to-one-service commenters out there. If they don't see their favorite service, they won't comment anymore.

As for me, I try all things that I can get my hands on. Part of my job, so even though I chose Disqus, I also have Intense Debate :) In fact, I'm going to enable both services on all my blogs and all the blogs I'm handling :p Still planning how I'm going to do it. My target launch is no later than July 1st.
Well, I prefer Disqus but here I am commenting on your blog using Intense Debate ;)
I tell you what, the Open Comments Workgroup was created to be the place where people and groups with stakes in this space can formulate and eventually produce a specification that will guide all services with how they should handle comments. Visit my blog at http://gameshogun.ws/

Secondly, I am planning on adding Intense Debate on all my blogs and the blogs I handle, side-by-side with Disqus. As you've said, and which I agree, loyal users will not comment if they don't see their platform of choice.

:D
