Big Hollywood : Louis C.K.'s Gamble Could Shake Up Comedy Scene

I think the ventriloquist Jeff Dunham beat CK to the punch. A few years back he bypassed Comedy Central to release his own dvd for purchase by his fans. It is not the same as a downloaded format but it did bypass the comedy palace guards.

I have never watched Glee and do not plan to do so in this lifetime. Nor will I let my daughers watch it. However, I do enjoy reading Mrs. Erikson's recap. At least then, I am not so out of touch.

Big Hollywood : 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Blu-Ray Review: In Which I Apologize to All Those Involved

Some surprising twists in the simplistic narrative. I am not sure they were intended. 1. Testing on animals actually benefit the animals. 2. Liberal scientist concerned about humanity actually destroys humanity in his attempt to save it. Glaring hole in the plot: How do the apes plan to survive in the Redwood forest? Redwoods do not produce fruit so how are all of those apes planning to live? If Franco had not destoryed mankind, the sequeal would involve a starving ape population slowly killed off by hunters in the forest.

Big Hollywood : Comedian Louis C.K. - Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Rant Should Have Been a Teachable Moment

Conservatives should not condemn CK. Instead we should see this as an opportunity and ask some questions. For example: Why CK do you say vile things about conservative women? What was your relationship to your mother like? Would you be okay with someone making the same vile comments about your mother because it is comedy? What does it mean to be a man to you? Why do you feel the need to demean women? Does that make you feel more like a man? Why are you a coward? Was your father an absentee father because he certainly did not raise you as a man? This could be a starting point to understand why liberal men - who are actually less than manly - feel a need to be prissy. Here is to dialogue.

The brave face of liberalism that will not even mention the hypocrisy and arrogance of those on his own side. By the way Seth, Stewart is a horrible debater who only seems to win by gaming the debates on his show.

Big Government : Will Gov. Perry Risk the Election for a Tuition-for-Illegals Ponzi Scheme?

Perry is not running from the law and I am not implying that he should. However, it is unfair to say that he bears total responsibility - for good or ill. The elected state representatives and senators of Texas - both Democrat and Republican - backed the measure overwhelmingly. The people of Texas, through their representatives, have approved of the measure - at least they have not moved to repeal it. Perry did not impose the measure on Texas. Texas chose it. He could have vetoed the law and allowed the legislature to override the veto but that would have been moral cowardice and political gamemanship. The very thing we all claim to deplore.

Perry has made significant strides - as much as any state governor can do - in controling illegal immigration. Texas spends a significant portion of its budget on border control - the actual job of the federal government. Texas, under Perry's leadership, has also passed a voter id bill and outlawed sanctuary cities. State universities and tuition are issues belonging to the state. Perry supports that and opposes a national dream act. Yes, the majority can be wrong. My point is that the issue was decided almost unanimously by the Texas legislature. Perry was governor but the state voted for the measure and it passed with only 4 votes against. It is unfair to put the blame on Perry as the issue was decided by the state in a democratic process.

The numbers and information you provided are basically worthless in drawing a conclusion on the topic. You cite current enrollment at 12,138 but you only cite financial assistance information for the years between 2004 and 2008, essentially four years. Since the data is from completely different years, how are we expected to make an informed opinion about the true cost of the program. If 12,138 students received $33,600,000 in state and institutional financial aid over a four year periord. That comes to about $692 per student (assuming the 12,138 enrollment was average, which it was not but you do not provide the numbers needed to make a real comparison.) The author should feel free to criticize Perry but he should be honest and direct enough to provide data and not attempt to smear Perry by stacking the numbers to create an impression rather than reality.

Big Government : Gov. Perry All But Invited Gov. Palin to Enter the Race

I do not buy the rationale for either. Otherwise I would support them. I do however understand the rationale behind the law passed by Perry and the Texas legislature. Mr. Obama and his open borders has put our governors, especially those on the border, in a precarious position. Without federal support, they cannot seal the border. All they can do is cope with the problems at hand. Better in college than on the streets or on welfare. Better to contribute to society than to simply take from it. I do not agree with Perry's defense of the issue at the debate. The Texas law is not the total sum of Perry's view of immigration. He and the Texas legislature have ended sanctuary cities in Texas and passed a voter identification bill. He has also spent what resources he can on sealing the borders. He and I may differ on in-state tuition but I am not going to write him off as a liberal or say that it defines his whole policy.

How does President Perry oppose the national Dream Act? He simply states that it is a states' rights issue that must be left to the individual states who control their own state universities.
