Why do news orgs do live spots from the room in which a candidate is speaking at the time. They end up speaking in Golf Tournament tones...
It annoys those there to see the candidate - it's distracting to the viewers at home.
It's just so ill-advised.

I worry about Santorum's electability. I don't think Obama can be defeated without the support of Independents. There are a whole lot of people who voted for Obama in '08 who would vote for the Republican this time around....but not for one with the birth control and abortion stance of Santorum.
I'll vote for the Republican regardless - but I doubt there are enough of me to overcome the huge Democrat push that will be on for Obama. Without the Independents I fear 4 more years.

Ideological purity could well insure Obama's re-election.

But - the Catholic Church and the vast majority of it's members support and fund Democrats. During my days in the CC - roughly 1960-1974 to be other than a Democrat was was the functional equivalent of blasphemy. I have to believe that philosophy hasn't changed in the ensuing years.

Just as I agree with Dennis Prager that there should be a referendum among the people of South Korea as to whether U.S. troops should stay or go, the City of Oakland needs a referendum on whether the thugs who roam the streets should stay - or go. That same referendum should also include the issue of whether the mayor should stay - or go.

Till then the police should back off, just as the mayor desired when all this started, and let chaos run its course. She didn't want to nip this in the bud. Now she can deal with the flower.
