Uhh, no, he wasn't tried and convicted. HE PLEAD GUILTY. Big difference. He had a plea bargain with the prosecutor to get off easy, but the court doesn't have to abide by a plea bargain. He got scared that he'd have to do more than 45 days in jail so he fled the country before he was sentenced and taken into custody. Read the transcript of the plea hearing at smokinggun.

I wasn't comparing Letterman's comments to the Prejean situation. I was comparing Letterman's comments to an idiot commenter here who called me a whore simply because I complained about having such numerous Prejean posts in one day.

This is what discussions on this site has come to? You people have the nerve to castigate David Letterman for making distasteful jokes, yet those commenting here on BH don't seem to be much different, with a few exceptions. Nice.

I'm sorry to say that the emails posted on Foxnews.com purportedly from Ms. Prejean to pageant officials does not do her case much good. If those emails are accurate, I'd have to say Ms. Prejean let things go to her head and can't really fault the pageant for firing her.
