Big Hollywood : Sen. Rand Paul Prevails in Economic Debate With David Letterman

I thought Paul could have been a little more detailed and forceful about economic theory. But then I realized he was trying to explain the subject to the equivalent of an 7th grade audience. And Letterman came off like a condescending, moronic jerk. What else is new?

I can't think of a studio more deserving of a Best Picture statuette than Pixar. It'll never happen, though: another reason why the Oscars are a joke.

Big Hollywood : Watch: Bill Maher Trashes Right & Fox News, Completely Loses 'Tonight Show' Audience

The hypocrisy and condescension was so rank in those videos; I stopped halfway through the second one. Hateful, hateful man. And Maher had to make a point about not putting "Lt. Col." in front of Allen West's name. What was that about rhetoric again?

Big Hollywood : Top 10 Most Overrated Directors of All Time

I doubt it has much to do with age but rather taste and proper appreciation. I'm in my early-20s and Hitch is easily my favorite director, a preference which is shared by several of my friends. The film studies department at my university, for example, has a class specifically on Hitchcock that fills up within minutes every semester. It's my peers who've never sat down and watched a Hitchcock film who dump all over him. That leads me to believe that Mr. Shapiro has never actually seen a Hitchcock film and is just spouting an opinion made by a buddy. The fact he saw "Notorious" and "Rebecca" as the "same film" only solidifies this belief. That is one of the most inaccurate and off-base assessments I've EVER HEARD.

Big Hollywood : First Look: Ridley Scott's 'Robin Hood'

My favorite Robin Hood adaptation so far is probably the Disney one, funnily enough. There's some good laughs in there (Prince John is hilarious!), and they actually stay faithful to the excessive taxation storyline rather than Robin Hood being some wealth redistributer. There are other adaptations out there that conveniently ignore that little point...

Big Hollywood : Part II: Modern Cinema Hasn’t a Clue About Eroticism

Thank goodness I have my Jane Austen adaptations to keep me satisfied; usually just a look between the leading couple is far more emotionally impactful and meaningful than any sex scene I've seen in a film.

Big Government : Nidal Hasan: It's Not Islam, It's a 'Military on the Brink'?

People think he's this very attractive man; I don't really see it. Not my cup of tea. Admittedly, he does have a good smile, though. If I put aside the fact that I vehemently disagree with just about everything he says and is grossly unqualified to be president, he comes off (usually) as a likeable man---and a family man, which is huge for a lot of women. If it wasn't for that, there wouldn't be a single thing about him I liked. I don't get pervy/creeper/indecent vibes from him.

If I saw his picture without knowing what he did, he'd look a bit pervy to me. Certainly not a guy I'd give a second thought about. I really can't pinpoint what exactly it is that gives off those vibes, just that I can pick up on them. But because my opinion of him is skewed by the fact he is a raging jihadist murderer, all I get when I look at him is "Ew, ew ew, oh God, take it away!"

Big Hollywood : 'Law and Order' Tackles Abortion

I don't necessarily see it as "bad and evil," but more irresponsible and emotionally risky. I know myself well enough to realize that I am far too private a person to have sex with someone I wasn't DEEPLY committed to (ie., married to). I put a lot of stock in human emotions, the value of relationships, and classiness, things that I believe have been cheapened in recent decades. The idea that I would one day have to explain to my husband that several other men had that kind of knowledge of me feels so wrong. I'm not looking for a long series of "LTRs", I'm looking for one lifelong marriage, and the decisions I make now will affect that. And to counter, "I always recoil at the thought" of a 14-year-old being sexually active.

How does abstinence not work? I'm 20-years-old and attending a co-ed university, where people profess it to be "so hard" to stay away from sex. Please. I'm abstaining until marriage, and I have zero desire to stray from that. Haven't gotten pregnant, so abstinence worked there. But those STDs have been such a bother.../sarc This decision wasn't forced upon me by others, and even though I'm a Christian, that wasn't my main motivation. It was my own personal choice. All it takes is an ounce of self-control, a moral compass, and some self-respect. Are there any moral standards out there anymore? Or is the left going to just continue applauding the fact that they've "liberated" all those horny teenagers from all that pesky responsibility?

Big Hollywood : Michael Moore On 'Hannity'

Exactly. I can't listen to Hannity anymore; his simplicity is maddening. Half the time during his interviews I'm thinking up better questions and rebuttals than he is--he won't put down the talking points! It's irritating because when some lib is arguing with me about commentators, it's VERY hard to defend him. I usually just give them a point for that one...(yet they won't reciprocate when I bring up someone like Olbermann!).

Julie Andrews is one of my personal favorites! She personifies class, charm, and is so regal. Mary Poppins is my favorite film of hers--and one of my favorite movies of all-time--with Sound of Music coming in at second. And that doctor who screwed up her vocal cords in the 90s? Yeah, one of the few times I thought a malpractice lawsuit was completely warranted...

Big Hollywood : Lonewolf Diaries: Hollywood Men, Grow a Pair and Marry the Dame!

I'm sorry to hear your story; I'm definitely aware that many decent men have been screwed over by the divorce system in this country. I'll never be able to understand what you're going through, but I can understand why it can forever tarnish your opinion of marriage. But as a woman, just know that some of us are not that heartless. There is so much selfishness wrapped up in the actions of these women that I'm disgusted to know we're of the same sex. The idea of me ever pulling something like that on my future husband (with whom I'll probably have had children with, no less) makes me ill. The one thing I want out of my life more than anything else is a family. I would consider my life a complete and utter waste if I didn't have one of my own. Why would I throw that all away? Again, not all of us are soul-sucking monsters. And I notice you said your daughters are in college; we'd be around the same age then. College girls just want to party, you say? Sure, there are a lot that do. But guess what? I hate partying. Absolutely abhor it. Nothing more than a grand opportunity to make a bloody fool out of yourself. There are still college-aged gals who are not that lacking in self-respect. But one day they'll wake up---most do once they've been humiliated one too many times.

I'm a bit excited that you wrote this, Steven. It means that my "future husband search" is not in vain and there are decent, gentlemanly, and somewhat old-fashioned guys still out there. Albeit not in large numbers---I've yet to see that many---but at least they're there. I'm a single college undergrad and I have yet to have a boyfriend because of this. It's not for lack of offers, but I'm very wary and distrusting of my male peers. Too many of them have less-than-savory motives and have yet to mature out of the "must-have-uber-hot-chick-to-show-off!" phase. Sorry; but I'm looking for a serious relationship, jerks. And to echo some of the other ladies out there who have posted (thank goodness there are more of you!), I also refuse to have sex with/live with anyone who's not my husband. Old-fashioned, you say? Well, thank you, I'm flattered! (There would be a lot less societal problems in this country if we brought back some old-fashion-ness...)
