GAC Blogs : Taylor Swift Missing from Grammy List

I never expected Taylor to really get any nominations in this years awards, because as mentioned, she was in that in-between stage between records. Given the success of Speak Now already though, I will not be surprised to see her name listed next among the nominees. That being said, I'm pretty pleased with all the others. For the most part, I'd say it was a good selection of people and songs. My only issue actually comes from the Gretchen Wilson and LeAnn Rimes nominations. I don't hate either of the them, but I've never once heard those songs on the radio, and I never got the impression that they were particularly successful. And if the voters are going for "left field" choices, I feel like there were better to choose from. But I'm more excited about David Nail's song "Turning Home" getting a nomination more than anything else.

I completely agree. I never expected her to get any awards in this round anyway, simply because this year was wrapping up the end of Fearless, and becaue Speak Now was released after the end date (although given its success already, I will not be surprised if it garners some nominations for next year).

I love these guys, and I really hope they find a new record company soon! Their album was one of my favorites from last year, so I'm sure they have a wonderful career ahead of them.

GAC Blogs : Taylor Swift Leapfrogs Eminem For Top Spot

Thank you for focusing on the actual feat accomplished here! This is a very big deal, especially given that Taylor is a young female who writes her own music.

I also agree with this. Pop music is changing just as much as country, and that's why people like Taylor and Carrie and others become so popular. They fill in the gaps. Even if you can't directly pin them down to one solid genre, they still make excellent music that bridges the divide.

Yes, but it's the original pop-sounding songs that are her most popular, such as "Before He Cheats" and "Last Name" and "Undo It" that I hear more often on pop radio than on country. Also, your caps-lock is unnecessary and detracts from your point.

I completely agree. I can't even add to this because you've summed it all up so nicely. If you can't accept different sounds within the same genre, then deal with it on your own time.

I can't respect your opinion because it's too hard to read past the grammatical errors and lack of pronouns. However, not all of Taylor's songs have been remixed. "Teardrops On My Guitar" and "Love Story" are the only songs with official pop remixes that were released to the radio, and truthfully, I've heard the original versions more than those anyway. As much as I like traditional country, and being able to differentiate country from pop, I also like that Taylor makes music that appeals to both sides. Plus, "Mine" is a nice song.

GAC Blogs : LeAnn Rimes Owns Up to Bad Behavior

I think it's about time she offered some explanation for it after a year of flaunting this relationship. But if it's one thing I've gotten from listening to country music, it's not to cheat because it comes back and bites you in the butt. Best of luck to all involved. But hasn't LeAnn already done a covers album? It's been ages since she's had any good new stuff. The sooner she proves her worth again, the sooner people will get over this.

GAC Blogs : Who Was Best Dressed at the ACM Awards?

Reba was hot in all her outfits. Carrie looked incredible, although she looked like she was in some sort of Easter dress during her performance. I loved Taylor's purple dress with the flowers. Nicole Kidman looked a little rough in her get up. And while I love Faith, I just didn't like her hair. Or LeAnn's hair. As for the guys, I thought Tim, Blake and Keith looked great.

GAC Blogs : Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert Rule the ACMs

My only hope for next year is that if they keep ETOY as fan voted, then they have fewer nominees. It's too hard when there are so many, and I feel like some people split votes like between Brad and Keith. And though I love them, I feel like Toby and ZBB never had the chance to get enough and so they just kept votes from going to the others. And while I love Carrie, obviously she was going to win because her career has been based on getting fan votes, whether or not she truly entertained more than the others.

I'm with you on that! Taylor's best performances have been on the ACMs. And while I am very happy for the winners, I do get a little tired when it's just one group or person winning everything. I prefer to hear a variety of people give acceptance speeches.

GAC Blogs : Brad Paisley Nixes an Awards Campaign

I really love Brad's attitude. Whether he wins something or not, he's the type of artist that you know you can expect awesome things from. I actually hope he wins, just because I think he does deserve it this time. But I'm not going to lie. I did like Taylor's video, but that's because she has always done those videos (and not always ones about voting for her) to keep her fans involved, and clearly it has worked for her, which I don't think is something that should be condemned. And again, I feel like everyone nominated is deserving of the award, especially because I feel like all will be good sports about it, win or lose.

I tolerate Miley Cyrus because my little sister loves her, but I don't her in country anyway. She shouldn't cut down a genre that was os good to her father, and even her, though. And considering how many successful artists out there that don't fit that bill, I think she should think before she speaks. But she's an overpopularized teen who's been paraded in front of the world with parents who clearly want her to be their meal ticket, so what else can you expect?
