No way I'm riding on anything built to collapse.

Thanks M. I saw you mentioned in your review that it hasn't worked out for documents. Are the iWork apps just too weak, or what is wrong there?

I do have a wireless keyboard and it works great with that. I think if I carried a purse, I would ditch my iPhone and get a regular cheap phone and take my iPad everywhere. As it stands, I'm not one for man-bags, and even a small backpack is little hard for me to swallow.

One last question - what about the 3G? I'm starting to get the itch to have that. Does it use Edge when there's no 3G coverage?

I didn't know you ladies were going to talk about the iPad today too! I feel like the Me Too guy now, especially since this was a really great review.

For what it's worth, if I had a MacBook Air, I would definitely take that on all trips. But alas, I have a 17" MacBook Pro, which weighs about 9 pounds with the charger. I'm a wimp, and it actually wears out my shoulder carrying it around the airport for hours.

Did you put down your $99 reservation fee?

I am not as familiar with the requirements of a family car as you, but I think the Leaf will be fairly practical as it is a 5-door. An electric SUV is not in view yet, but the Tesla Model S (2012) appears to be the largest option coming soon.

When it comes down to it, EV cars are not about choosing the convenient option yet. They are bleeding edge crunchy hippy idealism.

The bus system is actually pretty good in LA, but I hate buses. I think it's because I associate them with going to school. I would prefer if they reinstated the trolly car system.

Working from home and not owning a car, I am all for the gas tax! But here's the sad thing - rich people could still afford it, and everyone else would be forced to take PT, making it even more crowded and slow.

Let me add that if you do a lot of PPT with images i would get the 64 because that may add up quickly.

Hey M, I'm glad you found this helpful.

Since you are wifi challenged at work, I would get the 3G version. But documents won't take up much memory (yes, you can edit and save docs using the iWork apps sold separately), so you may not need the 64gb. Media is the big memory hog - music, video, photos. You know your memory needs better than me, but maybe you only need 16 or 32gb?

I'm sure you will be happy you got an iPad, and if not you have 14 days to return it less 10% restocking fee.

I'll give a full review in 2 weeks.

ETA on iPhone OS 4.0 is likely to be July, if Apple's January-July launch schedule history continues on the same rhythm.

Good question!

Yes, you will be able to listen to music while you do something else, because you can already do that in iPhone and iPod touch, and this is just an overgrown iPod touch.

What the haters are saying is that you cannot have something like Pandora running while you are reading email, because Pandora is a 3rd party application that cannot run in the background while running another application. Only Apple's built-in apps can multi-task, because they have better permissions.

Rumor came out today, however, of iPhone OS 4.0 multitasking, along the lines of Expose on your Mac OS desktop.
