Big Hollywood : Trailer Talk: 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Emancipates the Undead

I'm so confused by this movie. Part of me is like, "Why Abe Lincoln? What does that add to it?" The other part of me is pretty much, "Duuuude. Also, Johnny Cash, dude."

Big Hollywood : SyFy's 'Being Human' One of the Best Conservative Shows on TV

You know, there's a fair amount of conservatism in scifi. There's also a fair amount of hippy treehuggery propaganda, but look at Poul Anderson, John C. Wright, Michael Flynn, Heinlein's earlier stuff, and heck, Atlas Shrugged veers in to dystopic scifi. (Rearden metal, Project X, and a frikking zero point-energy engine?)

Big Hollywood : Dwayne 'Proud to Be an American' Johnson Mulls Political Future

Hmm. I think he has my vote. If it comes down to a war between the US and Russia ever, we could then just send our respective presidents out to have a duel to the death.

Hmm. Maybe I'll put it on the netflix queue after all. Gattaca's one of my favorite films, so I was sort of crushed when this appeared to be all about the whole OWS thing. Or when they started painting it to be about those hippies.

I want to say it was CollegeHumor that described Katy Perry as Zooey Deschanel without class or shame in one of their skits? Also, someone tell me what the heck that other thing is-- it looks like one of the Nox from the not-so-awesome first season of Stargate SG-1.

Saw Red Tails over the weekend. It's a whole that's not quite as good as the sum of it's parts (Notably because only Terrence Howard was bothering to have any personality) but OH MY GOD SHINIES.
Big Hollywood : Trailer Talk: 'Moonrise Kingdom' Offers Vintage Anderson Quirk

Am I the only one that liked the Life Aquatic-- Well, me and my circle of friends? His weakest for me was Bottle Rocket. I probably would've liked the Darjeeling Limited more if I weren't a theology student and bored by attempts of directionless spirituality-- well, that and the fact that the only part that really seemed like Wes Anderson was the last two minutes. The whole "leave dad's luggage!" scene was almost worth the price of admission.

Big Hollywood : Occupy Tatooine: Why 'Star Wars' Series Shouldn't See Light of Day

I've come to realize lately that what I loved wasn't so much what George Lucas made, it was the people around him. It seems like every day we hear more and more about people reigning in Lucas during the production of the original trilogy... and then the wonderful (But not without flaws) Expanded Universe that was once just canon. It was a wonderful thing. You could find a character from a comic book story in a novel, and characters from novels in video games, and then video games referenced in the novels... What a sense of continuity and history. And then Lucas came along. Sigh.

Big Hollywood : The Onion Forgets Mission, Protects Obama as 2012 Election Beckons

Alright, so two things I've noticed: First, okay, Wow, yes, the Presidency is aging Obama. Second, while I only have limited experience at best, but it's seemed to me that the Onion's video sections are much less partisan in their satire than their written sections. Kinda odd.

About the only thing that worries me with this is that I don't want to have to subscribe to 87,000 different services in order to watch TV-- on the other hand, I typically only watch a handful of shows at a time anyways. But it would be nice if it was sort of folded into an Ultraviolet sort of system where you could get shows ala carte.
