Amen jkesb... it sounds as though you are well-educated in the medical field (meant as a compliment).

But...testing to me doesn't sound like it addresses the underlying problem, which is some kids are eating unhealthy and not exercising enough. I'm sure there are medical conditions that can cause problems as well, but I can't imagine those being the majority at all with children (unless there is ANOTHER underlying cause in the food supply itself).

I'm sorry, but isn't there just something terribly wrong with this statistic?

1 in 5 adults (20%) couldn't possible ALL be actually needing these drugs. It just seems too hard to believe.

kockatoo, actually it's fairly rare that any or all of the things you mentioned actually happen. Most snow events in the lowland Western WA are pretty benign overall (and for that matter Eastern WA too).

You prepare for them, that's all you can do, and enjoy them when they do happen. The majority of the time, it's not all "doom and gloom" around here in Winter...and yes, I've lived on the Coast (like in December 2007 with wind gusts of over 100mph and flash snow storms) but those are fairly rare.

Sometimes I feel that the news media doesn't pay very good attention to providing the solution to the problem presented in the news it's reporting. And I noticed the title too...how about "Outbreak of Listeria..." ?

Prevention is limited with this particular bacteria to my knowledge though...if I remember correctly the last thing I read on it said washing doesn't even take care of it. :(

I'm excited to see the storms roll in off of the Pacific in full dimension now. This new radar will be a nice addition to the tools available for weather study and forecasting.

So this article is telling me that 90% of the U.S. population dies of one of these causes (cancer, diabetes and heart and lung disease)? Everything else accounts for only 10%? Seriously? That's hard to believe.

Ok... so the FDA says "they're right"... who says the way THEY test for arsenic is the 100% correct way? Are we just supposed to take the FDA's word for it? (I mean, look at their track record thus far)...

Dr. Oz emphatically stated on the show that this raises concern, but parents should not quit buying apple juice for their kids.
