The Barkman : What the *#^% has happened to The Wiire?

I think I've said this before, but I really can't say it enough. My interest in gaming (and my hopes of, one day, writing about games) was sparked and fueled by The Wiire; mainly because of James and yourself. Although the Wii is currently my least played console, I still hold an irreplaceable love for Nintendo and The Wiire days of old. The podcast was never the same once you and James left. Ironically, you two were absent in the first episode I listened to, episode 55. I'll stop myself from rambling here, and just say thank you.

This isn't meant to be an insult, but I was wondering if the podcast's audio quality has gotten worse or if it's just me. Regardless, that won't stop me from listening!

The Wiire : GoldenEye 007 Exclusive To Wii This Holiday

I mean, to remake the game, wouldn't they still have to go through all of that? If they create an updated version, I doubt releasing the original version would take as much work.

I'd actually prefer a straight up port or VC edition of the original GoldenEye 007. I don't really want to play a remake; I want to have some nostalgia-fueled multiplayer mayhem with the original game.

The Wiire : Kirby's Epic Yarn Screens and Hands-On Impressions

My initial thoughts were similar to Jumpman's when I heard the name and saw the colorful cloth and yarn based levels. Then, when the trailer continued, I'm pretty sure my jaw hit the floor. Leave it to Nintendo to bring creativity into an drab, FPS driven industry. The way they used the yarn and cloth mechanics to reveal new sections of a level, move into the background of a level, and navigate across certain sections was, dare I say, mind-blowing. Bravo, Nintendo. Bravo.

The Wiire : The Wiire Podcast 160

Elnicorico, are you the new me? I feel like I've talked about everything in your post over and over and over again, and I don't mean that in a negative way :). If I remember correctly, I started to really get into gaming in 2005, and I was so hyped for the Wii. It was my first console of this generation, and it was previously my console of choice. I was a total Nintendo fanboy. As I started thinking about games more and weighing my other options, I strayed from the Nintendo path and picked up a 360 and eventually a PS3. Now, I'm a total Wii hater. Well, I wouldn't say hater, but I do harp on it a lot. That's why I don't visit The Wiire as much as I used to. I definitely love the staff, and I still listen to the podcast every week, but the news/console just doesn't appeal to me anymore. I'm glad I'm not the only one who was brought to the "dark side" by the other consoles. :P

The Wiire : 2009: Despite Wii Sales Market Declines

Thank God Wii Play wasn't up there. I probably would have cried if it was. It's good to see Modern Warfare 2 at the top though, otherwise it's just like a Nintendo dictatorship. You'd think at this point Nintendo would start to get sick of money.

The Wiire : Wii Loses Exclusive With High Voltage's The Grinder

I totally agree. I think Nintendo does hold much of the blame for putting basically all of their focus on gameplay and, for the most part, disregarding graphics as an essential element to video games. I can understand why a developer like Infinity Ward would only want to develop for the PS3, PC, and 360. Developers don't want to downgrade their games, and if Nintendo had released a console that could at least handle 720p, we wouldn't have to worry about lack of third party support.

This is no reason to lose hope in a developer. Why should we as gamers (who love to play games) restrict a third party developer to one system? Their games obviously haven't sold as well as they'd hoped, and perhaps with the extended audience of the PS3 and 360 they'll be able to make some money. High Voltage should take care of themselves first. Otherwise, they might go out of business like Pandemic, GRIN, and Ensemble, and that means no more games for us.

Well, after reportedly poor sales of The Conduit and other more mature games like MadWorld, can you really blame them? Third party exclusives are quickly becoming a thing of the past. Look at BioShock or the GTA IV DLC packs. Both of these were supposed to be exclusive to the Xbox 360, but developers and publishers like money. The fact is, there is potential to make more money by releasing the game on more systems. I was never interested in the game in the first place, but I feel this is the right move for High Voltage.

The Wiire : Epic Mickey Confirmed as Wii Exclusive

I have been intrigued about this game since the artwork first leaked. The main thing that I'm wondering about is if this is a mature game or just a dark game, if you know what I mean. My biggest fear is that, in the end, the Wii won't be able to bring that artwork to life.

The Wiire : Could Netflix Expand Onto The Wii?

I love this feature on my Xbox 360, and if it expands to my Wii and PS3, that's even better. I know they don't offer the best selection of shows and movies for Instant Watch, but there are still some goodies to be found. I would recommend The Office, 30 Rock, and Dexter.

The Wiire : Price Drop Official: Wii Will be $200

I guess Nintendo saying, "We do not see a price drop in the near future," really means, "Just kiddin'! It'll coming this September!" I hate that they're basically just bitch-slapping the PS3 and 360 right after their price cuts. At least they had a few weeks of increased sales.
