HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Numfar! Do The Dance of Joy

I haven't checked this out at all, because I don't need/want another Apple gizmo. Except that I do. I always imagine that Apple laces their touch screens with ecstacy, or something. It must be why I feel such unending joy whenever I'm around them.

HijiNKS ENSUE - A Geek Webcomic : Slightly Not Canceled

When you tweeted (twittered? twitted?) about this show, I'd never even heard of it. Was it a hapless victim of the "'Firefly' cancellation syndrome"? People who should have known about its existence didn't, so it gets the axe cause no one was watching? I am also among those who have seen 'Princess Bride' so many times I have it memorized backwards and forwards and sideways and frontways. My other "must sit and watch regardless of what else I have to do or what I'm late for" movie is 'Galaxy Quest'.

/Film : Harold Ramis Dishes On Groundhog Day Musical

::clears throat:: "STOP TURNING NON-MUSICAL MOVIES INTO MUSICALS!!!" ::bangs head against the wall:: I love musicals, but I'm so done with all of this. 'Legally Blonde' was my breaking point. At least 'Young Frankenstein' had a musical number in the film.

/Film : James Cameron to Remake Forbidden Planet?

I have an irrational dislike of James Cameron since he claimed to be "king of the world" at the Oscars. Now he can do no good in my book. As for the movie, this is the first classic flick in a long while that I've been okay with the idea of a remake.

/Film : Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby

Baz is a good choice for this. "Gatsby" should be very colorful, musical and a little larger than life. Thinking back on "Romeo + Juliet" and "Strictly Ballroom", I imagine his vision for this would be taken from a similar vein.

/Film : How Twilight Is Destroying America and Harming Our Nation's Youth

I totally understand what you're saying, Tavi, I'm not disagreeing with you. There's just such a fine line between what one person thinks is acceptable and what another may perceive as flagrant misogyny. I guess there's just a part of me that hopes what people see in the movies or on TV won't actually affect how they handle their real life relationships.

I'm not saying I don't agree with the fact that the film displays some tendencies of controlling relationships. I'm saying that fiction (whether in film or written word) oftentimes displays the negativity that exists in our world, but we don't cut them all down and say that they should all be banned because they're destroying our youth. The novels have sold a bajillion copies because they're fantasy. I can't imagine a young woman seeing this movie or reading the book and saying, "Oh, then I guess it's okay my boyfriend beats me up."

/Film : Keanu Reeves Says No to Speed 3; May-be to Bill and Ted 3

I second and third the notion of Bill and Ted part trois. I was less than impressed with Speed 2: Cruise Control (or whatever dumbass name it had). Although, I really wish they had thought of this before George Carlin's passing. Middle-aged Bill and Ted with still-kicking Rufus? That would've been most excellent.

Would these same people also use this argument for "Romeo and Juliet"? Two people who fell in love with each other for absolutely no good reason and then offed themselves because their 'love' was forbidden? I guess if "Twilight" makes young women want to get abused up by their VAMPIRE boyfriends, then maybe we should get rid of every piece of fantastical fiction that IS NOT REALITY!!!!!!!!
