Lots of home schooled kids seem to be winning spelling bees lately. I'm always suspect about so-called studies claiming public schools educate as well as private schools. After all, if Obama sends his daughters to private schools instead of public ones, there's more than "studies" in their decision making.

Uhm, oberon: you do realize that the total cost of Afghanistan and Iraq combined since 2003 have been about the same as that $860 billion "stimulus" bill, right? Yeah the one that was rammed through congress by Democrats in 2009 that, as Harry Reid said, was to keep unemployment from going above 8% and fund new Big Green Energy companies like the failed Solyndra and create "shovel ready" jobs (that didn't turn out to be...hahaha...as Obama laughed about it, shovel ready).

wvernon: you are only half right. Parents are a large part of a child's education, but they aren't the majority of it unless they home school! What kids "learn" today in public government schools is a new kind of math that doesn't teach critical thinking and analytical skills (go to your typical fast food joint, and hand someone a $5 bill on a $4.63 tab and see if they can come up with the change without the register telling it to them). Our history is not being taught nor is the workings of our government. Many if not most kids out of high school today have spelling and vocabulary deficiencies, crappy basic math/statistic skills, cannot name the three branches of the Federal Government, and do not even know who our enemy was during the War of 1812.

Liberals have overrun our government schools and have let feel good entitlement and emotions and self esteem trump learning (and the realities of winning or losing and failing). Even some schools have done away with GRADES and instead use COLORS! What the hell is that stupidity doing to teach our youth about the harsh realities of the future? Is their future boss going to give them a red star on their unfavorable performance review? No, they'll get their ass fired for failure. Oh, well, that is, unless the liberals take over and national companies too and then mandate nobody ever get fired...like unions.

Airbus has had their share of glitches and failures as of late. Usually however a loss of cabin pressure alarm would go off warning a loss of oxygen, which is usually what causes hypoxia (light-headedness). I'd be curious to know if the passengers reported any problems. The cockpit is not a separate pressurized part of the aircraft but it does have a separate ventilation system for heating and cooling.

Actually the Feds knew that there was a credible threat of terrorism and hijackings against Americans prior to 9/11. The problem was that our wonderful liberally politically correct mentality made it impossible to profile Middle Easterners/Muslims as passengers (and we still can't do that today).
