It's a good point Ken, and I think that's why so many Hoosier fans are quick to panic: we've been conditioned to expect February failures over the last couple of years. We've all seen enough from this team this year to KNOW that they are capable of so much more, but we've lost five out of seven games and continue to show an inability to make the plays necessary to win when on the road. That's why these back to back road games were so important; both are winnable, and we need to get one, I think, for positive momentum moving forward. The Feb schedule is more forgiving than January's, but it won't matter if we don't start making the plays again in winning time.

Actually Carlos, if you re-read the post, I acknowledge pretty much everything you said regarding Madonna. I understand everything about her success, and if I was a TV exec I'd probably choose her too. But as I said, based on my personal bias, I do not prefer her to the other options on this list, nor do I find her as appropriate for the setting as some of these other folks based on her music, where the Super Bowl is being held, and the preference I am seeing from many NFL folks.

This is a great point. They'd get at least 7-8 Scowling Eltons. I wish I'd had more time to compile a more thorough list...but it could have taken forever, because frankly I haven't one person who is excited about Madonna being the halftime act.

You make fair points. However, Victor Martinez will not be batting around Prince. He's out for the year and now there is nowhere for him to play. But yet, having Miguel Cabrera will certainly help him. And you're right about Prince taking better care of himself. I hope that helps him to slow the effects of the combination that aging and his size have had on others. I'm merely looking at the history of big sluggers, and very few are able to maintain their production as they get to 28, 29, and especially older. Yes, the Tigers should own the AL Central for the next several years, and if they win a World Series during that time, perhaps the crazy dollars are worth it. But I think there are better ways to spend $214 million than on a player with Prince's profile and comparables.
