Big Hollywood : Watch Matt Damon Say 'Intrinsically Paternalistic'

I love how Damon equates the nobility of being an actor (I don't do it for the money) with being a teacher. Incentive is such a foreign concept to this guy, he has no business lecturing anyone.

Big Hollywood : Political Correctness Is Destroying Broadway

Billy Elliot would not be on Broadway if it weren't for the gay angle. Margaret Thatcher is demonized in this play as well. And his point still stands; a very high percentage of the plays and/or musicals that are lauded by the Broadway community are not financially successful.

Big Hollywood : Rock n' Roll Used to Be About Personal Liberty

Do you differentiate between politics and outlook on life? Because politics is how we vote based on morals and what we value as important. This is also very similar to how we consume art. Art, at it's essence being an expression of life designed to evoke an emotional response. So if your worldview is conservative then it stands to logic that you would be entertained by music such as this. The great thing about this album is that it is entertainment from a largely conservative viewpoint, but it is not overtly saying "vote for X".

Big Hollywood : What Will the PC-Police Do When the 'Narnia' Films Confront Islam?

The Horse and His Boy has been my favorite story of the Narnia books. But I have maintained that it will never get made in to a Hollywood movie. If for no other reason than all of the comments made about how special a person with "fair skin tone" is. I really don't think that Hollywood producers can bastardize the book to the point where they feel comfortable putting it on screen. On a side note: Gary Oldman's character in The Book of Eli reminded me of the monkey in The Last Battle. Oldman wanted to use the scripture to control people, the same way the Monkey used his fake Aslan to get what he wanted.

NewsReal Blog : Obama’s Top 10 Broken Promises (So Far)

Next can we have a list of promises that Obama has kept? Or legislative success he's had that have had more of a destructive effect on this country than he said they would? I didn't vote for this guy, so I'm happy if he doesn't keep his promises. I'm more worried about the things he gave lip service to that convinced so many people that he was good for the USA. And I guess this list hit on a few of those like promising "transparency", reducing earmarks and not allowing lobbyists to work for him.

Big Hollywood : Jon Stewart's Weak Attack on Glenn Beck's DC Rally

That is a pic from early in the rally. Towards the middle/end of the rally there would be no grass visible on the left side. Just saying.

Big Hollywood : Anne Rice: Follower of Christ Quits Christianity ... On Facebook

Way to make the same mistake she did. A person becomes a Christian through a personal relationship with Christ. Not through judging the piety or or agreeing with the actions of other Christians.

Seriously? If she was really a Christian then she would understand that one of the basic premises of Christianity is that humans are innately flawed. Thus we need: redemption, forgiveness etc, obtained through a personal relationship with Christ. Saying that she is 'quitting Christianity' like it is some sort of club says to me that she was only there for the cool decoder ring.

Big Hollywood : A View From Stage Right; Part 2

A good start, even short of the ombudsman position, would be to find plays that don't vilify conservatives outright. Plays that take in to account conservative views and allows the audience to judge. A good example of this is the television show The Wire. It does not preach conservatism, or liberalism, but both views are treated with respect. I don't think it's a coincidence that it is considered one of the best tv shows ever.

Even the show about SNL failed because all they did was kick around Christians and conservatives. They weren't interested in being funny only in bashing the Right. Who remember Studio 60?

On tuesday I had a "Turdunken Melt", it's duck confit(don't know what that is except really tasty) wrapped in turkey breast over a chicken fillet and smothered in andouille sausage gravy. That's right; meat inside of meat, on top of meat and covered in meat sauce! Booyah!
