I couldn't agree more, Beverly. The project must have buy-in from all parties or else it will become yet another instance of data-rich, information-poor government.

More stories from the trenches...Ohio updates - Money will begin to be paid between Dec. 18 and 23, according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. "Our call centers have been overwhelmed," Brian Harter, agency spokesman, told the Columbus Dispatch.

The New York Times, reports that state labor officials urge Congress to extend emergency jobless benefits and to renew health insurance subsidies for the long-term jobless.

A report from the Orlando Sentinel in Florida just reported 80,000 or more jobless in that state are waiting for their unemployment as well. The list goes on...

There's an interesting story in this morning's USA Today: Country consolidation gains steam across US. It mentions Western New York as having four towns vote to reduce the number of seats on town councils from five to three.

The Columbus Dispatch reports this morning that Ohio is facing the same kinds of problems with their unemployment system. 200,000 Ohioans receive unemployment benefits, though officials said the number affected by the computer glitch is unknown.
