I love the streetcar tracks in the photo at the top of the entry. I'm glad they had the vision to go ahead an put them in the road now when they resurfaced it instead of having to tear it up again in a few years when the streetcar line gets built.

CLT Blog | Charlotte, NC : I Love Charlotte by DJ Complete

I find it funny because it is almost self depreciating, though not as obvious as this Cleveland tourism mocumentary: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysmLA5TqbIY (Credit to Meck for finding it, please don't yell at me for stealing it!) Also, I found the rap song about the Carolina Panthers circa 2003-2004: <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jD-7U0Fls0" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jD-7U0Fls0

I'm sorry that you didn't stick around long enough to see that we also posted a story on Drinking Liberally's anti-tea party: http://cltblog.com/2009/04/drinking-liberally-in-... Just because journalists report on an event doesn't mean they or their news agency support the event.

I think it is funny. He took the popular Asher Roth song "I Love College" and remixed it for laughs.I don't really think he was trying to be serious. Anybody else remember that rap about the Panthers from a while back? I think it was the year they went to the Superbowl.

CLT Blog | Charlotte, NC : Sneak peak at the new Re-Cyclery retail space

Thanks. I love the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens - a nice piece of glass for the price. Hopefully one day I can upgrade my camera body so I won't have to always manually focus the lens. These are okay, but I'm most proud of the recent skateboarding photos. I shot those with a manual focus lens, indoors in low light, without a flash or tripod. I had to shoot over a thousand frames to get a handful that were nice. Adversity builds character, I tell myself.

CLT Blog | Charlotte, NC : Charlotte turns lights off for Earth Hour.

I'm all for being green and energy efficient, but when hype and participation overshadow the amount of effort required and any tangible results, then it can become a bit of grandstanding. The best joke I heard about Earth Hour: "I just participated in Earth Hour. Now I'm going to go masturbate while thinking about what a GOOD person I am." Another example: Product [RED]. I bet the people who work in the sweatshops making these products are TI[RED].

They used to have a outfield billboard at Knights Stadium with a picture of WSOC sports guy Harold Johnson. Every game Homer the Dragon would ride his ATV out there and beat on the picture of "the big guy" with a plastic bat. Classic.

Nice! I love this building! Now we'll have this, the classic Bank of America Corp. Center by Cesar Pelli (Petronas Towers, 1IFC Hong Kong), the Bechtler Art Museum by Mario Botta (San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Church of Santo Volto in Turino), and the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African American Arts & Culture by Freelon. An impressive and growing collection of great design.
