With good reason, but this limits the growth of a franchise, and the gameplay becomes stagnant. Halo 1 and Halo 3 are exactly the same game just shinier. ODST does look good since it changes the halo formula alot, no stupid high jumping, weapon recoil, and reduced health, gratefully it won't be more of the same bounce and shoot, bounce and shoot. IT has influenced many other films and videogames, as soon as I truned on Mass Effect for the first time and the music for the title screen came on and I thought, Vangelis gonna sue somebody's ass. IF we are making a list I also think we should include John Carpenter's The Thing. First off, alot the effects invented for this film are still used to this day, and the thrill of not knowing who is human or the thing, has never been outdone in my opinion. And I know this is a remake off the one in b&W with james arness, but the carpenter version is so awesome, the music is killer as always with Carpenter films. Its time straight up just adapt great comics into movies. Dude, give me Xmen Age of Apocalypse, Xcutioners song, House of M, not Xmen first class, at least they tried to do this with wolverine but watered it down so it was almost unrecognizable. The only reason these reboots keep getting made is to make these films highly digestible to the masses, don't include any backstory in your film and you cut your audience in half because they don't know whats going on and will blow it off. But really hollywood stop making these terrible cut and paste franchise films with no story or recognizable context to the original works. (Transformers Anyone). The reason these comics are getting made into films in the first place is because the stories are quality and have developed huge fan-bases as so why go and F*** it all up? I will never understand hollywood I guess.
