Erik - I intentionally avoided the connection to/vilification of Judaism, for reasons that I hope are obvious. As is noted on the club's Wikipedia page, the connection has led to some totally unacceptable chants from fans of opposing clubs. We are not those people. We'll have to agree to disagree about the beer!

Edward - I take your reading of the post as a good sign that I nailed the humidity of the post just right. In other words, the humor was dry. :)

"I was promised donuts" is a goddamn masterstroke. Thank you SFO. I only wish we could have mustered an equally overwhelming response here in PDX when they rambled our way...Next time.

Whoops, so the "kids eat free" starts at 5:00. The game starts at 7:15.

The Minnesota Thunder played a great game of soccer against the CONCACAF-weary P.R. Islanders last night and won 5-2. That means we only need a single point out of the last three games. Hope to see you at the game tonight!

So long as they're not blinded by the smurf turf, Oregon has a shot. Boise State is crazy persistent, though.

Testify! :) That would be great, because we'd get the first round bye in that event.

There's rumblings afoot in Portland that we need more "open source" legal forms - particularly for startup and emerging companies. Kudos for taking this step!

When I entered law school, a friend of mine told me to take up golfing. Not because it was cliche (it is) or funny (it was) but because he's been in enough rounds of golf where people's lives/careers/bonuses are decided that he's decided he can't rationally not golf. I start with that because it's a more dramatic example of the sort of stuff that can happen when you go and do that thing that half the office does.

One wonders whether we've gone from bad "jumping off a cliff" rhetoric to placing too little emphasis on the social aspect of addictions - nowadays the anti-smoking marketing is completely health-focused, but saying "World of Warcraft hurts your wrists" is ridiculous. You're hurting your wrists for the tribe! Ditto, I think, smoking.

And yes, perspective breaks are awesome. I'd even argue that capital-I Intentional breaks are substantially more useful than answering the call of habit X...not that I'm any more likely to take them.

YEAH! Mettadore in the house! Now at least I know I'll see you in February.

I'll be the guy distributing barf bags in the speaker's area. :P

There is always going to be a balance between user rights and service providers. Particularly so long as there is an ad revenue model in place, services need to know that they "own" something beyond the demographics. Content fits that bill. I'm wondering if there are some interactions with some of the more egregious DMCA decisions that influence the decision to include provisions like this...Hmm...(wanders off to his stack of recent cyberlaw updates).
